The Hikvision DS-1250ZJ-DM65 is a genuine Hikvision rain shade for outdoor dome cameras, fitting over the dome to shed water and cut direct glare.

Who is it for?

Any dome camera in an exposed position. Two problems it solves: rain sitting on the dome, which smears the image and shows up badly at night when the IR bounces off the droplets; and low sun striking the dome at an angle, which washes out the picture at exactly the times of day you most want detail.

It is a cheap part that quietly improves image quality on cameras that are otherwise performing below their specification for environmental reasons.

What you'll need with it

• A matching camera. Rain shades are sized to the dome — send us your camera model and we will confirm the right one before you order.
• Nothing else. It clips or screws to the camera housing with the supplied fixings.

Will it fit my camera?

Only the matching dome sizes. Tell us the model and we will check.

Does it reduce the field of view?

Slightly at the very top of the frame, which is usually sky. In practice the clearer image is worth far more than the sliver lost.

Will it help with IR reflection at night?

It helps with rain on the dome, which is a common cause of night-time glare. It does not fix IR bouncing off a nearby wall — that is a positioning problem.
