Ajax Curtain Outdoor Jeweller - Wireless Outdoor Curtain Detector
Curtain Outdoor Jeweller is a battery-powered Ajax detector that watches a narrow, flat strip instead of a whole area. That makes it a good fit for guarding a line: a run of windows, a doorway, a side passage or the front of an outbuilding, outside or indoors. It carries two PIR sensors and a K-band microwave sensor, and both kinds of sensor have to pick up movement before it signals an alarm, which helps cut false alarms. It reports to the Ajax hub over the Jeweller radio and takes firmware updates over a second channel, Wings. Supplied in white, with a hood and an angle mount.

Ajax Jeweller hubs, for example Hub 2 (2G) Jeweller, Hub 2 (4G) Jeweller or Hub 2 Plus Jeweller, and the ReX 2 Jeweller range extender if you need more reach. It has no camera, so it does not send photos.
Common questions
Where should a curtain detector go?
Along a line you want to protect, rather than across an open space. With an 8° horizontal zone it forms a thin wall of detection in front of windows, a door, a passageway or a garage front.
Can it go outside?
Yes. Ajax rates it IP55 and environmental class IV, for -25 °C to +60 °C and humidity up to 95%. Fit the supplied hood so rain and snow do not set off the anti-masking.
What about pets?
It has a pet immune mode. Ajax recommends a mounting height of 1 m with that mode switched on, and 2.4 m otherwise.
How long do the batteries last?
Ajax calculates up to 3 years from the two CR123A cells, which come fitted.
Does it take photos?
No. It has no camera; Wings is used only to deliver firmware updates. For photo verification outdoors, look at MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) Jeweller.
