Ajax DualCurtain Outdoor Jeweller - Wireless Outdoor Curtain Detector
DualCurtain Outdoor Jeweller guards two thin curtains of space, one to each side of the unit, so a single detector can watch along a wall, past a row of windows or across a passage before anyone reaches the building. Each side reaches from 4 to 15 m, and the angle of each side can be nudged by 3° using sliders on the back. Four infrared sensors work with SmartDetect and ELSA processing to keep false alarms down, and an anti-masking system reports attempts to block it. It talks to the Ajax hub over Jeweller at up to 1,700 m in open space and is built for outdoor fitting, rated IP54 and environmental class IV. White only.

Common questions
How is a curtain detector different from an ordinary PIR?
An ordinary PIR covers a wide fan across a room. A curtain detector sees a thin, tall sheet of space, here 4.5° wide and 90° high on each side, so it can guard a line such as a wall, a doorway or a row of windows.
Does it cover both directions at once?
Yes. It watches to the left and right of the unit at the same time, from 4 to 15 m on each side.
How high should it be fitted?
Ajax recommends 0.8 to 1.3 m above the ground to protect doors, arches and passages, or 0.5 to 0.6 m above the sill when it is protecting a window.
Will cats and foxes trigger it?
Ajax rates its pet immunity by height: animals up to 80 cm tall. The SmartDetect and ELSA processing are there to reduce false alarms outdoors.
Does it need a mains supply?
No. It runs on two CR123A batteries, already fitted, which Ajax rates for up to 4 years.
