Ajax EN54 FireProtect (Heat) Jeweller Wireless Heat Detector

Ajax EN54 FireProtect (Heat) Jeweller - Wireless Heat Detector

EN54 FireProtect (Heat) Jeweller is a battery-powered, addressable heat detector for the Ajax EN54 wireless fire system. Two thermistors track the air temperature, and you decide how it responds: one of the EN 54-5 class settings (A1, B or C, each with rate-of-rise R and static S options) or a plain fixed temperature. Heat detection suits rooms where normal activity would trouble a smoke sensor. Alarms travel over the two-way Jeweller radio, so no cable has to be run back to the panel, and the two CR123A batteries are rated for up to six years. Choose white or black above.

Also listed as 119917 (white) and 119918 (black). Ajax model ID FP.54H.J.

Key features

• Heat sensing with two thermistors, set to class A1, A1R, A1S, B, BR, BS, C, CR or CS, or to a fixed temperature.
• Jeweller radio range up to 1,700 m in open space, with block encryption using a dynamic key and frequency hopping against jamming.
• Red, yellow and green LEDs on the detector show what it is doing.
• Tamper button reports a fault if the detector is lifted off its SmartBracket, and a lock holds it on the bracket.
• The SmartBracket lets you turn the detector by up to 90° after it has been fitted.
• Two CR123A batteries, fitted at the factory and rated for up to 6 years; the battery lids open by hand and reverse polarity protection is built in.
• Indoor use, IP20, from 0 °C to +50 °C, in a UL 94 V-0 rated housing.

Technical specification

Works with

EN54 Fire Hub Jeweller (the control panel for the Ajax EN54 system), EN54 Fire ReX Jeweller to extend the radio range, and EN54 Indicator Jeweller where an alarm light is needed away from the detector.

Common questions

When should I choose a heat detector instead of a smoke detector?

Where everyday activity could set off a smoke sensor, for example a kitchen, a plant room or a dusty workshop. The fire risk assessment and the person designing the system should decide which type goes in each room.

What do the A1, B and C settings mean?

They are heat detector classes from EN 54-5, each tied to the temperatures a detector is designed to work at. The R options add a response to a fast rise in temperature, and the S options a static, fixed-point response. The class is chosen when the system is configured.

Does it need any wiring?

No. It runs on two CR123A batteries, rated for up to six years, and reports to the system by radio. Only the SmartBracket mounting panel is screwed in place.

Which control panel does it work with?

It is part of the Ajax EN54 fire line, whose control panel is the EN54 Fire Hub Jeweller. Please ask us before pairing it with any other Ajax hub.

Which certifications does it have?

Ajax lists a Ukrainian certificate to EN 54-5, EN 54-25 and EN 54-13, an EN 54-13 compatibility assessment by Dedal Attestation & Certification, and BOSEC, DBI and Swedish SBF approvals. In the UK, a commercial fire alarm is normally designed and commissioned to BS 5839-1 by a competent installer.

Can it be fitted outdoors?

No. Ajax rates it for indoor use only (IP20), at 0 °C to +50 °C and humidity up to 80%.
