Ajax EN54 FireProtect (Sounder/VAD) Jeweller - Wireless Fire Sounder and VAD
EN54 FireProtect (Sounder/VAD) Jeweller warns people of a fire with both sound and light. In one housing it combines a fire alarm sounder, with 32 tones and up to 100 dB at 1 m, and a visual alarm device (VAD) that flashes every two seconds, which is useful where a sounder on its own may not be noticed. Every sounder linked to the same EN54 control panel sounds in step. It is wireless and battery powered, rated IP54 for fitting indoors or outdoors, and comes in white, black or red.
Also listed as 118599 (white), 118600 (black) and 118601 (red). Ajax model ID FP.54AV.J.

Common questions
Why choose a sounder with a VAD?
The flashing light gives a visual warning as well as the sound, which helps where the sounder may not be heard, for example in a noisy area or for someone with hearing loss. The system designer will say where VADs are needed. In the UK, a commercial fire alarm is normally designed and commissioned to BS 5839-1 by a competent installer.
How loud is it?
Up to 100 dB at 1 m on tones 1 and 2. The level depends on the tone chosen, and there are 32 tones in all.
Can it be fitted outside?
Yes. Ajax designs it for indoor and outdoor use, rated IP54, at -10 °C to +60 °C and humidity up to 80%.
Do all the sounders go off together?
Yes. The alarm sound is synchronised automatically on every device with a sounder that is connected to the same control panel.
Is there a difference between the colours?
No. White (118599), black (118600) and red (118601) share the same specification and price, so pick the one that suits the building.
Which control panel does it work with?
It is part of the Ajax EN54 fire line, whose control panel is the EN54 Fire Hub Jeweller. Please ask us before pairing it with any other Ajax hub.
