FireProtect 2 AC (Heat/Smoke/CO) Jeweller covers three dangers with one unit: an optical smoke sensor, a heat sensor and a carbon monoxide sensor. It is wired to the mains, with a lithium backup cell inside for power cuts. When it detects a problem it sounds its own 85 dB sounder and reports to the Ajax hub over Jeweller radio, so the alarm also reaches the Ajax apps. Where several Ajax fire detectors share a system, they can sound together. Having all three sensors in one housing means one device to wire, fit and test in each room instead of separate smoke, heat and CO alarms. Choose white or black above.

Ajax hubs that use Jeweller radio, such as Hub 2 (2G) Jeweller, and the Ajax apps for set-up and alerts. Other Ajax FireProtect 2 detectors on the same system can sound together when one of them raises a fire alarm.

Common questions

Why have smoke, heat and CO in one alarm?

One unit watches for smoke, a dangerous temperature and carbon monoxide, so there is a single device to wire in, fit and test where you would otherwise need two or three.

What is the difference between the AC and RB versions?

The AC version is wired to 110-240 V mains and has a non-replaceable backup cell. FireProtect 2 RB (Heat/Smoke/CO) Jeweller runs on two replaceable CR123A batteries and needs no wiring.

Will steam set it off?

Ajax states that the smoke sensor does not react to water vapour. As with any smoke alarm, choose its position with care.

What happens in a power cut?

The built-in CR-2/3AZ lithium cell takes over from the mains, so the alarm keeps working.

How do I test it?

Press the button on the front to start a smoke chamber test. The same button silences the sounder during an alarm or fault.

Can I use it in a rented property?

It is listed against BS EN 14604:2005 for smoke and BS EN 50291-1:2018 for CO, with BSI Kitemarks KM 797639 and KM 797661. How many alarms a property needs, and where they go, depends on its layout, its fuel-burning appliances and the rules for that part of the UK, so check the current guidance and BS 5839-6 before fitting.
