Ajax FireProtect 2 SB (Heat/Smoke/CO) Jeweller - Smoke, Heat and CO Alarm
FireProtect 2 SB (Heat/Smoke/CO) Jeweller covers smoke, heat and carbon monoxide in a single Ajax alarm. Smoke is read by a dual-spectrum optical sensor that does not react to water vapour, heat by a sensor built to the Class A1R requirements, and CO by a chemical sensor that Ajax rates for 10 years. Two sealed lithium batteries power it, so there is no wiring, and its own 85 dB siren sounds at the alarm. Paired with an Ajax hub over the two-way Jeweller radio, an alarm also reaches the Ajax app and sets off the other fire detectors on the system. Choose black or white above.
Also listed as 52257 (black) and 52256 (white). Ajax model ID FP2.SBHSC.J.
Key features
- Smoke, heat and carbon monoxide sensing in one alarm, each with its own sensor.
- Dual-spectrum optical smoke sensor that ignores water vapour, in a patented chamber that keeps out dust, dirt and insects.
- Heat alarm above 64 °C, or on a rise of more than 10 °C in a minute or less.
- Chemical CO sensor rated for 10 years: alarms within 90 minutes above 50 ppm, 40 minutes above 100 ppm and 3 minutes above 300 ppm.
- Two sealed lithium batteries, so there is no mains wiring and no battery to change.
- Siren rated at 85 dB at 3 m, plus a green, yellow and red LED for power, faults and fire alarms.
- Listed to BS EN 14604 and BS EN 50291-1, with BSI Kitemarks KM 797639 (smoke), KM 797644 (heat) and KM 797661 (CO).

Works with
An Ajax hub or range extender that uses the Jeweller radio, for example Hub 2 (2G) Jeweller or Hub 2 Plus Jeweller. Other Ajax fire detectors on the same system, such as FireProtect 2 smoke, heat and CO alarms, join its interconnected alarm.
Common questions
What does it detect?
Smoke, heat and carbon monoxide, each with its own sensor: dual-spectrum optical for smoke, a Class A1R heat sensor and a chemical CO sensor.
Will steam set it off?
Ajax says its dual-spectrum optical smoke sensor does not react to water vapour.
At what CO level does it alarm?
It works on the dose built up over time: within 90 minutes above 50 ppm, within 40 minutes above 100 ppm and within 3 minutes above 300 ppm.
Can the batteries be changed?
No. SB means sealed batteries. Ajax makes FireProtect 2 RB (Heat/Smoke/CO) Jeweller with replaceable batteries.
Which standards does it carry?
BS EN 14604 for smoke and BS EN 50291-1 for CO, with BSI Kitemarks KM 797639, KM 797644 and KM 797661.
Where can it be fitted?
Indoors only. Ajax rates it IP20, for 0 °C to +50 °C and humidity up to 80%.
