Superior MotionCam G3 (PhOD) Jeweller is a Grade 3 wireless PIR detector from the Ajax Superior range, with a camera that can take photos at up to HD (864 × 720 px). It is aimed at sites that need a higher security grade, such as shops, offices and commercial premises. Photos can be taken on alarm, on request, to a schedule, on arming or disarming, when a tamper or masking attempt is detected, or when Ajax fire detectors trigger. It talks to the hub over Superior Jeweller, the Grade 3 version of Ajax's radio, with a range of up to 3,500 m in open space, and anti-masking warns you if someone tries to cover the lens. Common questions
What does G3 mean?
Ajax uses G3 for Superior devices certified to Security Grade 3 under EN 50131. This one is also listed against PD 6662:2017. The whole system needs Grade 3 parts, including the hub, to be graded at that level.
What does PhOD mean?
Photo on demand. As well as taking pictures on alarm, it can take them when a user asks, to a schedule, on arming or disarming, or when masking or tampering is detected.
How clear are the photos?
Up to HD, 864 × 720 px, with 1 to 3 pictures per series at that size. Smaller sizes give up to 5 pictures and arrive faster, from about 3 s at 160 × 128 px.
What happens if someone covers it?
The anti-masking system detects attempts to block its view and can take photos when that happens. Two tamper switches and a SmartBracket lock guard against removal.
How long do the batteries last?
Up to 6 years on the four CR123A batteries supplied, by Ajax's calculation.
Can it go outside?
No. It is IP30 and environmental class II, which is for indoor use, at -10 °C to +40 °C.
