The Dahua DHI-NVR2208-8P-S2 - 8 Channel 1U 8PoE Lite Network Video Recorder is part of Dahua’s network video recorder (NVR) range.
Who is it for?
An NVR is the heart of an IP CCTV system. It records the cameras, powers them over the network cable where it has PoE ports, and provides remote viewing through an app. Choose the channel count for the cameras you have plus room to grow — an 8-channel recorder costs little more than a 4-channel and saves replacing it later.
Choosing the right recorder
- Channels. One per camera. Buy above your current count if you may expand.
- PoE ports. Built-in PoE powers cameras directly. Without it, you need a separate PoE switch.
- Maximum resolution per channel. An 8MP camera needs a recorder that records 8MP, or it will downscale.
- Drive bays. More bays means more retention. Two bays suits a busy commercial site needing 30 days.
What you will need
- A surveillance-grade hard drive — we fit and format it before dispatch or collection.
- Cat5e or Cat6 cable to each camera and a network cable to your router for remote viewing.
- An HDMI screen for setup; day to day most people use the app.
