Common questions

Is the Dahua IPC-HDBW4231E-AS a 1080p camera?

Yes. It is a 2MP camera with a 1920 × 1080 picture, and Dahua lists 1080P at up to 50/60 fps on the main stream.

Which lens does it have?

It has a fixed lens. This page offers the 3.6mm and 6mm sizes, chosen from the Lens Size option, and Dahua's headline for the model also lists a 2.8mm lens. A larger number gives a narrower, longer view.

How far does the IR night vision reach?

Dahua lists IR LEDs up to 30m. In low light it gives 0.009 lux colour sensitivity at F2.0, and 0 lux with the IR on.

How is it powered?

It runs on PoE (802.3af, Class 0) or 12 VDC, so a PoE recorder or PoE switch can power it down the network cable.

Does it have audio and alarm connections?

Dahua lists 1 audio in and 1 audio out, and 1 alarm input (5mA 5VDC) and 1 alarm output (300mA 12VDC).

Is it waterproof and vandal resistant?

It is rated IP67 and IK10, and operates from -30 °C to +60 °C at less than 95% RH. That suits it to use as an outdoor CCTV camera or outdoor dome camera.

Can it record to a micro SD card?

Dahua lists micro SD memory for this model, so it can record on its own as well as to a recorder.

Will it work with a non-Dahua recorder?

Tell us the recorder model and we will confirm it before you order. Some smart functions only work with a Dahua recorder.
