This is the 4 mm version of Hikvision's compact G2H mini bullet: an F1.0 lens on a 4 MP sensor, AcuSense human and vehicle classification, a built-in microphone and 40 m of infrared, drawing just 7 watts.
F1.0 is the widest aperture Hikvision fit, and it is normally reserved for their ColorVu and DeepinView ranges. Here it sits in a Ø74.4 × 179.2 mm body weighing 525 g. The practical effect is 0.001 lux in colour — the camera holds colour further into dusk before the infrared takes over, which is exactly when a cheaper lens starts losing useful detail.
Same camera, different lens. At 4 mm the field of view is 81.1° horizontal and the DORI figures are detect 78 m, observe 31 m, recognise 15 m, identify 7 m. At 2.8 mm the view opens to 100.2° but the figures fall to 63 m detect and 6 m identify.
Choose 4 mm where the camera looks along a length — a driveway, a side passage, a car park aisle. Choose 2.8 mm for breadth close in. The 4 mm holds focus from 2.5 m rather than 1.9 m, so it is the weaker choice mounted close to its subject.
Unlike most of this family, the illuminator and the optics are reasonably matched here: 40 m of IR against a 78 m detection range. Not perfect, but better balanced than the turrets in the same series, which pair 30 m IR with similar optics.
It runs on 802.3af Class 3 at a maximum of 7 W — among the lightest draws of any camera in the range. Sixteen of these need 112 W; sixteen of the strobe-and-siren deterrence bullets need 288 W. On a modest NVR with built-in PoE, that difference decides whether you can use every port.
The -IU suffix means a built-in microphone. There is no speaker, no strobe, and no alarm or audio terminal block — it listens, but it cannot speak back or trigger anything wired. For two-way audio look at the G3 audio bullets; for an on-camera siren, the IS2U/SL models.
More light. It holds colour down to 0.001 lux, so the camera stays in colour later into dusk before switching to infrared.
Not better, different. It sees further with more detail over a narrower field. For close, wide coverage the 2.8 mm is the right choice, and the lens is fixed so it must be decided before ordering.
A built-in microphone, yes. No speaker and no audio terminals, so it listens but does not talk back.
Only 7 W on 802.3af — one of the lightest draws in the range, so it runs on almost any switch or NVR.
