The Hikvision DS-2CD2046G3-IZ2UY is a compact 4MP AcuSense bullet with something most cameras at this price do not have: two microphones and a built-in speaker. It hears, and it talks back.
A recording camera tells you what happened. A camera with a speaker lets you intervene while it is happening — tell someone in the yard they are being recorded, greet a delivery driver, warn a group off a forecourt at two in the morning without leaving the building.
The speaker is genuinely loud: 110 dB at 10cm, drawing up to 2W. The two microphones are arrayed with environment noise filtering, which is what makes speech intelligible rather than just present.
Recording audio carries its own legal considerations, and two-way audio more so — see our FAQ on CCTV law before deploying it in a public-facing position.
At Ø74.4 × 176.3mm and 515g this is less than half the weight of the larger G3 bullets, in an all-metal housing. It suits a house frontage, a shop entrance or a soffit where a 287mm camera would dominate — while still reaching 40 metres in the dark.
Hikvision publishes the DORI figures (EN 62676-4), and they are the numbers worth planning around:
| At 2.8mm (wide) | At 4mm (zoomed) | |
|---|---|---|
| Detect | 66.6 m | 79.2 m |
| Observe | 26.4 m | 31.4 m |
| Recognise | 13.3 m | 15.8 m |
| Identify — a stranger, to evidential standard | 6.7 m | 7.9 m |
Identification happens under eight metres, as on every 4MP camera. Which suits this model well — a camera you talk through is usually one covering a door or a gate, exactly where people come close enough to be identified.
This base model has the speaker and microphones but no flashing light. Two variants add one:
Ask us if you want either; we would rather order the right one than have you add a strobe afterwards.
Deep-learning classification runs on the camera, separating people and vehicles from leaves, headlights, rain and animals — so the speaker triggers for things that matter rather than for a passing cat. It supports line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exit, each able to trigger on humans or vehicles specifically, plus face capture.
The card slot takes up to 512GB. With ANR the camera keeps recording locally if the link to the NVR fails and back-fills the gap when it returns, with card encryption and health detection on high-end Hikvision cards.
It needs 802.3at, not 802.3af. At up to 16W this draws more than the other G3 cameras — the speaker and the audio hardware cost power. Check your switch or NVR supports at, and budget the total across ports.
It is a 10/100 port, not gigabit. With an 8 Mbps ceiling that is ample, but worth knowing when specifying.
The zoom range is narrow — 2.8–4mm is wide-angle at both ends. For reach rather than width, a 2.8–12mm model suits better.
Yes. It has a built-in speaker as well as two microphones, so you can listen and talk back through Hik-Connect or a compatible NVR.
Up to 110 dB measured at 10cm, drawing a maximum of 2W. Loud enough to be heard clearly across a yard or forecourt.
Not this model. The /SL variant adds a white strobe and the /SRB variant a red and blue light. Ask us if you want either.
Only if it supports 802.3at. This camera draws up to 16W, more than the 802.3af standard provides.
6.7 metres at 2.8mm, 7.9 metres at 4mm, to the EN 62676-4 standard. Beyond that you will see what happened without identifying a stranger to evidential standard.
