The Hikvision DS-2CD2186G2H-ISU is a 4K vandal dome with an F1.0 lens and 130 dB WDR — and it identifies at ten metres, further than anything else in this family.

4K on a 1/1.8" sensor

3840 × 2160 on a larger 1/1.8" sensor than the 6MP models use. Bigger sensor, bigger pixels — which is why it reaches 0.0008 lux in colour, better than the 6MP version despite carrying more pixels.

It also steps up to 130 dB WDR, against 120 dB across the rest of the G2H range.

Distance, not just detail

Ten metres to identification at 4mm — against six or seven on the 4MP and 6MP models. On a forecourt or a car park where the camera cannot sit right on top of the action, that is the difference between footage that shows an incident and footage that identifies someone.

Worth knowing before you order

Minimum focus is 3.3 metres — noticeably further than the 6MP models at 1.7m. Mounted directly above a doorway at head height the image will be soft. This camera wants standoff, which suits its longer identification range anyway.

The alarm output is 12V at 30mA — a signalling contact, not a relay for a sounder.

How far can it identify someone?

8 metres at 2.8mm, 10 metres at 4mm — the longest in this family, and roughly half again the 4MP and 6MP models.

Why is it better in low light than the 6MP version?

A larger 1/1.8" sensor means bigger pixels gathering more light — 0.0008 lux against 0.001, despite carrying more of them.

How close can it focus?

3.3 metres at 2.8mm. Give it room; it is not a doorway camera.

How much PoE does it need?

9.5W on standard 802.3af — light for a 4K camera.

Can the alarm output drive a siren?

Not directly — 12V at 30mA is a signalling contact. Use a relay module.
