The Hikvision DS-2CD2346G3D-IZ2UY/SL is a dual-lens camera — two complete 4MP cameras in one turret housing, each with its own sensor and its own motorised lens, aimed independently.
It is the only letter separating this from the standard G3 turret, and it changes the product entirely. Inside are two separate imaging channels:
Each records its own 4MP stream at 25fps. They are not a stitched panorama — they are two cameras that happen to share a housing, a cable and a power supply.
One mounting point covering two directions. A corner where two walls meet. A gate where you want the approach and the plate. A forecourt entrance and exit. A corridor junction.
The saving is not just the second camera body — it is one cable run, one PoE port, one bracket, one hole in the wall. On a retrofit where getting a second cable to the corner would mean lifting a floor or chasing a wall, that is often the whole argument.
Check your NVR licensing. Two channels means two NVR channels, not one. Worth confirming you have the capacity before ordering.
The /SL adds a white strobe, and there is a 110 dB speaker and arrayed dual microphone on board. AcuSense classifies people and vehicles, so the strobe and audible warning fire for things that matter rather than for weather and wildlife.
The /SRB variant replaces the white strobe with red and blue. Recording audio and using active deterrence both carry legal considerations — see our FAQ on CCTV law.
| At 2.8mm | At 4mm | |
|---|---|---|
| Detect | 66.6 m | 79.2 m |
| Observe | 26.4 m | 31.4 m |
| Recognise | 13.3 m | 15.8 m |
| Identify | 6.7 m | 7.9 m |
Identical on both channels, and the same as the single-lens G3 turret — because each channel is a G3 turret. Identification under eight metres, so put it where people pass close.
Minimum focus is 1.2 metres — much closer than most of the range. That makes it genuinely usable over a doorway or at a gate.
It draws up to 18W on 802.3at. Two cameras, two lenses, a strobe and a speaker all cost power. An 802.3af switch will not run it.
No. It is two independent cameras that can be aimed in different directions — not a single stitched wide image. If you want a seamless panorama, look at the PanoVu range instead.
Two. Each lens is its own channel, so check your recorder has the capacity and licences before ordering.
Yes — that is the point. Each has independent pan, tilt and rotation within the housing, so one mount can cover two approaches.
Yes. The /SL has a white strobe plus a 110 dB speaker for audible warnings. The /SRB flashes red and blue instead.
Only if it supports 802.3at. At up to 18W this exceeds the 802.3af standard.
