The DS-2CD2T46G2H-2I is the straightforward workhorse of Hikvision's G2H bullet range: 4 MP, AcuSense human and vehicle classification, DarkFighter low-light performance and a 60 m infrared range, in a full-size metal bullet housing. No strobe, no speaker, no audio — just a well-specified camera that records reliably and filters out the false alarms.

AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting only trigger on the target types you care about. Face capture is also supported.

The specification that matters most on this model: it runs on 802.3af

This camera draws a maximum of 9 W over IEEE 802.3af Class 3 PoE. That is a genuine practical advantage over the deterrence models in the same family — the DS-2CD2T46G2H-IS2U/SL and DS-2CD2T86G2H-IS2U/SL both demand 802.3at because of their strobes and speakers. If you are feeding cameras from an older af-only switch, or filling every port on a recorder with a tight power budget, this camera fits where those do not.

What it does not have

Worth being clear, because the model numbers in this family look similar. The 2I has no built-in microphone, no speaker, and no audio or alarm terminal block. Its only physical interfaces are the Ethernet port, the microSD slot and the reset key. If you need two-way audio, an on-camera siren, or to wire in a detector or sounder, you want the ISU, IS2U or IS2U/SL models instead.

2I or 4I?

Hikvision publishes one datasheet for both. They are the same camera apart from the illuminator and what it costs to power: 2I gives 60 m IR at max. 9 W PoE, 4I gives 80 m IR at max. 12 W. Everything else — sensor, lens options, analytics, housing, dimensions — is identical.

Lens, coverage and DORI

This SKU is the 2.8 mm fixed-lens version on an M12 mount: horizontal FOV 100.2°, vertical 54.7°, diagonal 119.7°, depth of field from 1.9 m. Hikvision's published DORI at 2.8 mm is detect 63 m, observe 25 m, recognise 12 m, identify 6 m. Note that the 60 m IR comfortably covers the 63 m detect range, so this camera's night performance is well matched to its optics — which is not always the case in this family. The 4 mm version narrows the view to 81.1° and pushes identification to about 7 m.

What you'll need with it

• A pole or corner bracket if it is not mounting flat to a wall; the integral bracket handles standard wall fixing

Frequently asked questions

Does this camera have a microphone?

No. The 2I has no audio hardware at all. For a built-in microphone, look at the ISU or IS2U models in the same range.

Will it work on my existing 802.3af switch?

Yes — it is specified for 802.3af Class 3 at a maximum of 9 W, so a standard af port is sufficient.

Is this a ColorVu camera?

No. This is AcuSense with infrared night vision, so the image goes to black and white in darkness. For colour at night, look at the ColorVu or Smart Hybrid Light models.

Will it work on a third-party NVR?

It supports ONVIF Profile S, T and G, so it will record on most ONVIF recorders. AcuSense classification is best supported on Hikvision recorders.
