The Hikvision DS-2CD6D55G2-IZHS is five cameras in one housing — four independently aimable 5MP heads covering the horizon, and a fifth pointing straight down to cover the ground beneath.

The fifth head is the point

Every multi-sensor camera covers 360 degrees. Almost all of them have a blind spot directly underneath, because four outward-facing heads meet above the mounting point rather than below it.

This one adds a fifth fixed 2mm channel looking straight down, at 1440 × 1440. On a pole in a car park, a mast over a forecourt or a mount above a doorway, that is precisely where people stand — and precisely what the four-head cameras miss.

Four heads you actually aim

The four main channels each carry a motorised 2.8–8mm varifocal lens at 2560 × 1920 (5MP), with semi-automatic focus. Each pans through 350°, tilts 90° and rotates ±90° within the housing.

That means you are not stuck with four fixed 90° quadrants. Point two heads down a long approach and spread the other two across a yard; or cover three roads from a junction and put the fourth on a gate. Field of view runs from 96.5° wide to 48.9° zoomed on each head independently.

One cable instead of five

The commercial case is the installation. Five camera positions would mean five cable runs, five PoE ports, five brackets and five sets of labour. This is one cable, one port, one mount — though it does draw 25W on 802.3at and it is a substantial unit at Ø290mm and 8kg packaged.

Built for exposed sites

IP67, IK10 impact rating, NEMA 4X anti-corrosion, and an operating range of −40°C to +60°C — the widest of any camera we stock. It also carries EN 50121-4 certification, the railway EMC standard, which tells you where Hikvision expects it to be used.

30 metres of infrared and 0.005 lux low-light sensitivity, with 120dB WDR and EIS stabilisation for pole mounting.

Worth knowing before you order

Five NVR channels, not one. This is the most common misunderstanding with multisensor cameras — check your recorder capacity and licensing first.

25W on 802.3at. Two of these will use half a typical 100W switch budget on their own.

It is large and heavy. Ø290mm and 8kg in the box — the mounting structure needs to suit, particularly on a pole.

Focus is semi-automatic, not fully auto. Expect to set each head up individually at commissioning.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a fisheye?

A fisheye gives one distorted hemisphere that must be dewarped, with identification at two or three metres. This gives five separate, properly rectilinear 5MP images with real lenses — far more usable detail, and each head aimed where you want it.

What does the fifth camera do?

It looks straight down, covering the blind spot beneath the mount that four-head cameras leave uncovered.

How many recorder channels does it use?

Five. Confirm your NVR has the capacity and licences before ordering.

Can the heads be aimed independently?

Yes — each pans 350°, tilts 90° and rotates ±90°, with its own 2.8–8mm motorised zoom.

Will a normal PoE switch run it?

Only an 802.3at switch with headroom. It draws up to 25W.
