Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K2 - 8 Channel AcuSense 4K NVR

The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K2 is an 8-channel AcuSense network video recorder with two SATA bays, 4K output and on-device facial recognition and perimeter protection.

Important — this model has no PoE ports

The K2 does not power cameras. It has a single gigabit network port and expects the cameras to be powered by a PoE switch. If you want the recorder to power them directly, you need the DS-7608NXI-K2/8P, which is the same recorder with eight PoE ports built in.

Choose this version deliberately: on a site that already has a switch it is the cheaper option, and it lets the cameras sit anywhere on the network rather than being cabled back to the recorder.

Who is it for?

Systems of up to eight cameras where the analytics matter more than the port count. AcuSense classifies what triggered an alarm — person, vehicle, or neither — on the recorder itself, so you stop being notified about rain, foliage and cats, and you can search recordings by target type rather than scrubbing through hours of footage.

Two drive bays at up to 16 TB each give 32 TB, which is generous for eight channels and puts long retention within reach without moving up a range.

What you'll need with it

• A PoE switch or separate camera power — this recorder does not supply it. Tell us your camera count and models and we will size a switch.
• Hard drives — none are supplied. Two SATA bays up to 16 TB each. Use surveillance-rated drives such as WD Purple; desktop drives are not built for continuous writing. Size them with our CCTV storage calculator.
• Cat6 to each camera, and a screen with HDMI or VGA for local viewing.

Does it power my cameras?

No. Use a PoE switch, or choose the DS-7608NXI-K2/8P which has eight PoE ports built in.

What does AcuSense actually do?

It works out whether an alarm was triggered by a person, a vehicle or neither, on the recorder itself. Far fewer false alerts, and you can search by target type instead of watching hours of footage.

How does it differ from the VPro version?

The VPro models add AcuSeek and AcuSearch — AI-driven search — and larger face libraries (50,000 pictures against 20,000 here). They are a different, more expensive product. This is the standard K-series AcuSense recorder.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Two SATA drives up to 16 TB each, supplied separately.

Will it work with my existing cameras?

It supports Hikvision cameras and third-party cameras over ONVIF profile S/G. AcuSense analytics work best with compatible Hikvision cameras — send us your models and we will confirm what you would get.
