The Hikvision DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/S(E) is a 16-channel AcuSense network video recorder with sixteen built-in PoE ports, AcuSearch, on-device facial recognition and support for cameras up to 32 MP.

Make sure you are buying the (E) revision

This model number covers two revisions and they are not the same product. Listings elsewhere often still quote the older (C) figures. The (E) supplied here gives you:

• Cameras up to 32 MP rather than 12 MP
• 16 TB per disk rather than 8 TB — double the retention from the same two bays
• AcuSearch, and 50,000 face pictures with 8-channel comparison rather than 10,000 and 4-channel
• EN 303645, secure boot and signed firmware, none of which the (C) has

Who is it for?

Sixteen-camera systems where the analytics earn their keep — sites drowning in false alarms, or where footage has to be searched quickly rather than watched. AcuSense decides on the recorder itself whether an alarm was a person, a vehicle or neither. AcuSearch then lets you find events by what appeared in frame instead of working through hours of recording.

Sixteen PoE ports at 200 W power every camera directly, so there is no separate switch to buy or mount.

Two bays across sixteen channels — plan the storage

This is a 1U recorder with two drive bays, so 32 TB is the ceiling. Across sixteen cameras that is a good deal less retention than the same storage gives eight. If you need months rather than weeks, look at the four-bay DS-7732NXI-K4 or the Ultra DS-7716NI-M4. What is AcuSearch?

Search recordings by what appeared in them rather than by time. On a sixteen-camera system recording continuously, that is the difference between finding an incident in a minute and losing an afternoon to it.

How does it compare to the DS-7616NXI-K2/16P?

The K-series takes cameras up to 12 MP, holds 20,000 face pictures and has no AcuSearch. This I-series handles 32 MP cameras, 50,000 faces and adds AcuSearch. Both have sixteen PoE ports at 200 W.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Two SATA drives up to 16 TB each, supplied separately.

Will 200 W run sixteen cameras?

Comfortably for standard fixed cameras at 5–12 W each. PTZs with heaters draw considerably more — send us your models and we will total it.

Will it work with my existing cameras?

It supports Hikvision cameras and third-party cameras over ONVIF profile S/G. The deeper analytics need compatible Hikvision cameras — send us your models and we will confirm what you would get.
