The Hikvision DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/VPro is a 16-channel network video recorder with sixteen built-in PoE ports and AcuSeek — Hikvision's AI-driven video search, running on a second dedicated engine.

What AcuSeek actually changes

Ordinary recorders make you search by time. AcuSearch improved on that by letting you search by target type. AcuSeek goes further: you describe what you are looking for and it returns the matching clips, in plain English, from the recorder itself.

The VPro carries two AI engines — one for face recognition and AcuSearch, a second dedicated to AcuSeek — and models up to 300,000 targets a day, against 172,800 on the standard I-series. Across sixteen cameras recording continuously, that is what makes the footage genuinely searchable rather than theoretically searchable.

Who is it for?

Sixteen-camera sites where footage is used, not just stored: retail floors, licensed premises, transport yards, schools. If the recorder will only be opened after an incident, the DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/S records identically for less.

What you'll need with it

• AcuSense cameras. This matters more here than on any other recorder: AcuSeek and AcuSearch require cameras supporting Hikvision AcuSense with AcuSearch enabled. With older or third-party cameras you are paying for an engine you cannot use. Send us your models and we will confirm before you order.
• Hard drives — none are supplied. Two bays at up to 20 TB each. Note this is a two-bay recorder covering sixteen channels, so plan retention carefully — use our CCTV storage calculator. For longer retention, the four-bay I4 models are the better fit.
• Cameras within the 200 W PoE budget — about 12 W per camera across sixteen ports.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between AcuSearch and AcuSeek?

AcuSearch finds footage by target type — person, vehicle and so on. AcuSeek lets you describe what you are looking for and returns matching clips. The VPro runs both, on separate engines.

Do I need special cameras?

Yes for the AI features — AcuSense cameras with AcuSearch enabled. The recorder still records any ONVIF camera; you simply would not get the search.

How is it different from the DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/S?

The S records identically. The VPro adds the second engine, AcuSeek, nearly double the target modelling, and 20 TB disk support against 16 TB.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Two SATA drives up to 20 TB each, supplied separately.
