The Hikvision DS-7616NXI-K2/16P(D) is a 16-channel AcuSense network video recorder with sixteen built-in PoE ports, two SATA bays and 4K output.

Who is it for?

Sixteen-camera systems powered entirely from the recorder — a commercial unit, a school block, a farm or a yard with perimeter coverage. Sixteen PoE ports at a 200 W budget means one Cat6 run per camera and no separate switch to buy, mount or fail.

AcuSense is what makes a system this size usable. Sixteen cameras generate a great many alerts, and most of them are weather and wildlife. The recorder classifies each one as person, vehicle or neither on the device itself, so the notifications that reach you are worth looking at — and you can search back through recordings by target type instead of watching hours of footage.

Check the bandwidth against your cameras

Incoming bandwidth is 160 Mbps across 16 channels — about 10 Mbps per camera with everything recording. That is comfortable for 4 MP cameras at sensible frame rates and it is the ceiling that decides whether the system performs. If you are specifying 8 MP or 12 MP cameras across all sixteen channels, the DS-7616NI-M2/16P at 256 Mbps is the better fit. Send us the camera list and we will check it.

What you'll need with it

• Hard drives — none are supplied. Two SATA bays up to 16 TB each. Use surveillance-rated drives such as WD Purple; desktop drives are not built for continuous writing. Size them with our CCTV storage calculator — sixteen channels fills a disk considerably faster than eight.
• Cameras within the 200 W PoE budget — about 12 W per camera across sixteen ports. Ample for standard fixed cameras; PTZs, heaters and illuminators draw more, so send us your models and we will total it.
• Cat6 to each camera, and a screen with HDMI or VGA for local viewing.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Two SATA drives up to 16 TB each, supplied separately.

How does it compare to the DS-7616NI-M2/16P?

The M2 has considerably more bandwidth (256 Mbps against 160), supports cameras up to 32 MP rather than 12 MP, and outputs 8K rather than 4K. This K-series model is the more economical choice for a system of 4 MP cameras.

What does AcuSense actually do?

It classifies alarms as person, vehicle or neither, on the recorder itself. Far fewer false alerts, and recordings searchable by target type.

Can I view it on my phone?

Yes, through Hik-Connect on iOS and Android, or iVMS-4200 on a PC. Both are free.

Will it work with my existing cameras?

It supports Hikvision cameras and third-party cameras over ONVIF profile S/G. AcuSense analytics work best with compatible Hikvision cameras — send us your models and we will confirm.
