The Hikvision DS-E08NI-Q1/8P is an 8-channel network video recorder with eight PoE ports and a 2 TB SSD already fitted — the only recorder in our range that arrives ready to record.
No drive to buy, and nothing that spins
Every other NVR on this site is supplied without disks. This one ships with solid-state storage installed, which changes three things:
- Nothing to specify or order. No drive sizing, no separate line on the quote, no risk of someone fitting a desktop drive that fails in six months.
- Effectively silent. An SSD has no moving parts, and the whole unit draws ≤10 W. It can sit in an occupied room — a reception desk, a shop back office, a home study — where a conventional recorder's drive and fan noise would be intrusive.
- Genuinely small. 225 × 122 × 27 mm. It fits on a shelf or behind a monitor rather than needing a cabinet.
It is also more tolerant of a dusty or lightly knocked environment than a spinning disk, which suits a shop counter or a workshop.
Understand the trade-off before you specify it
Solid-state storage is expensive per terabyte, so 2 TB is what you get — there are no extra bays. Against eight cameras, that means a modest retention period rather than months. It is the right recorder where quiet operation, size and simplicity matter more than how far back the footage goes.
If you need long retention across eight cameras, the DS-7608NXI-K2 takes two conventional disks at up to 16 TB each and costs less. This one is bought for where it lives, not for how much it holds.

What you'll need with it
- Nothing else, for the recorder itself — the storage is fitted and the PoE is built in. Just cameras and Cat6.
- Cameras within the 58 W PoE budget — about 7 W per camera across eight ports. Suits standard fixed cameras; not PTZs or heated housings.
- Cameras of 4 MP or below. This model records up to 4 MP, unlike the rest of the range which goes far higher. Check your camera list against that before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
Does it really come with storage?
Yes — a 2 TB SSD fitted from the factory. It is the only recorder we sell that does.
Can I add or replace the storage?
No. The SSD is the storage; there are no drive bays.
How long will 2 TB record for?
It depends entirely on camera count, resolution and frame rate. Tell us the setup and we will estimate it — or use our CCTV storage calculator. Be realistic: this is a compact recorder, not a long-retention one.
Is it quiet?
Yes. Solid-state storage and ≤10 W total draw. It suits rooms people work in.
What resolution cameras does it take?
Up to 4 MP. Higher-resolution cameras need a different recorder — ask us and we will point you at the right one.
