Hikvision iDS-9632NXI-M8/AI(B) - 32 Channel 8 Bay Fusion AI NVR

The Hikvision iDS-9632NXI-M8/AI(B) is a 32-channel Fusion AI network video recorder with eight SATA bays, RAID and a pre-installed library of AI algorithms. It is a different proposition from the rest of the DeepinMind range — this one is bought for what it detects, not for searching footage afterwards.

It ships with the algorithms already on it

Where other recorders offer face matching and search, this arrives with ten pre-installed algorithm models across four categories:

• People: facial recognition, regional people counting and statistics, and PPE detection — safety helmets and reflective vests
• Vehicles: brand, colour and type attributes, plus non-motorised vehicle detection for motorcycles and bicycles
• Dangerous events: fire and smoke detection, and occupation of a fire escape
• Behaviour: falling down, people gathering, fast movement and physical conflict outdoors; playing on a phone, sleeping on duty, absence from post, overstaying and headcount limits indoors; intrusion, line crossing and region entry/exit on a perimeter

That list goes well beyond security. PPE compliance, blocked fire escapes, a worker collapsing, a fight breaking out — these are health-and-safety and operational problems that a normal recorder cannot see.

The AI Open Platform — your own models

It also runs AIOP with up to 16 custom algorithm models: detection, classification or mixed. Each model handles one live stream, or up to eight cameras on auto-switch with a configurable interval between ten seconds and an hour. If you have a detection requirement Hikvision does not ship, this is the recorder that can be given one.

Understand how the engines are shared

Three KT2 engines — two for live video analysis and one for large-model secondary analysis. Each analysis engine handles 4 channels at 4 MP, 2 at 6 MP, or 1 at 8 MP live. If you need more channels covered than that, auto-switch analysis extends one engine across sixteen cameras by cycling between them, at the cost of continuous coverage.

So it will not run every algorithm on all thirty-two channels at once. Decide which cameras need which detection before you buy — we are happy to work through that with you.

What you'll need with it

• A clear list of what you need detected, and on which cameras. Engine capacity is the constraint, not channel count. Tell us the requirement and we will map it out before you order.
• Hard drives — none are supplied. Eight 3.5-inch bays at up to 16 TB. Size them with our CCTV storage calculator.
• PoE switches for the cameras — this recorder does not power them.

Frequently asked questions

Can it really detect missing safety helmets?

Yes — PPE detection for helmets and reflective vests is one of the pre-installed models. Camera position and image quality matter a great deal for reliability, so plan the views deliberately.

Does fire and smoke detection replace a fire alarm?

No. It is a video analytic that raises an alarm on the recorder — useful for early warning in yards, stores and plant rooms, but it is not a substitute for a compliant fire detection system.

Can it run every algorithm on all 32 channels?

No. Two live-analysis engines cover roughly four 4 MP channels each; auto-switch extends coverage to sixteen cameras per engine by cycling. Decide priorities per camera.

How does it differ from the iDS-9632NXI-M8/X?

The M8/X is built for face matching and AcuSearch across large libraries. This one is built for detecting events and behaviours as they happen, and for running custom models. Same chassis, same eight bays, same RAID.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Eight 3.5-inch SATA drives up to 16 TB each, supplied separately.
