Dahua HAC-HDBW2401E - 4MP 2K HDCVI IR Dome CCTV Camera

Dahua HAC-HDBW2401E - 4MP 2K HDCVI IR Night Vision Dome CCTV Camera

The Dahua HAC-HDBW2401E (Dahua also writes it DH-HAC-HDBW2401E) is a 4MP 2K HDCVI IR dome CCTV camera from Dahua's Pro Series, with 120dB true WDR, 3DNR and 30m Smart IR night vision. Dahua lists it as a "4MP WDR HDCVI IR Dome Camera". HDCVI sends high-definition video down standard coaxial cable, so a property that already has coax from an older analogue CCTV system can upgrade the picture without rewiring. This listing is the 3.6mm fixed lens version; Dahua also lists 2.8mm and 6mm versions of the model.

Also listed as DH-HAC-HDBW2401E.

The IP67 housing is waterproof, so it can be mounted outdoors on a coax system. Its 30m Smart IR night vision makes it an infrared camera that can record in the dark.

Key features

• 4MP real-time video: a 2688 × 1520 sensor (4.1MP) records 4MP (2560 × 1440) at 25fps, plus 1080P and 720P at 25/30fps.
• 120dB true WDR with BLC, HLC and 2D/3D noise reduction (3DNR) for scenes with strong contrast and low light.
• Smart IR: 12 IR LEDs reach up to 30m (98ft) and the LED intensity adjusts to the distance of the object, so close subjects are not overexposed.
• 3.6mm fixed lens with an F1.5 aperture and a 79° horizontal angle of view; minimum illumination 0.01 lux, or 0 lux with the IR on.
• HD and SD dual output: one BNC connector for HDCVI high-definition video and one for CVBS, at the same time.
• Dahua states that HDCVI carries 4MP video up to 700m over coaxial cable and up to 300m over UTP cable, as verified in its own test laboratory.
• IP67 water and dust protection and IK10 vandal resistance (Dahua describes IK10 as 5kg dropped from 40cm), in an aluminium casing rated -30°C to +60°C.
• 12V DC input with ±25% tolerance and a 4KV lightning rating; maximum 4.4W with the IR on.

Works with

• Dahua PFA136 junction box
• Dahua PFB203W wall mount bracket
• Dahua PFA152-E pole mount bracket
• Dahua DH-PFA200W rain shade

Dahua's datasheet lists these as optional accessories for this camera.

What you will need

• A Dahua XVR recorder. Penta-brid XVRs accept HDCVI, AHD, TVI, analogue and IP on the same box, so you can mix old and new cameras and upgrade in stages.
• RG59 coax and 12V power to each camera — pre-made shotgun cable carries both in one run.
• A multi-way 12V power supply for several cameras; the recorder does not power them.
• A surveillance-grade hard drive, sized for how long you need to keep footage.
• Signage. If your cameras capture anything beyond your boundary you are a data controller under UK GDPR and must display a notice.

Common questions

Is it a 4MP camera?

Yes. It records 4MP (2560 × 1440) at 25fps from a 2688 × 1520 sensor, and 1080P or 720P at 25/30fps. 4MP video is often sold as 2K.

What does HDCVI mean?

HDCVI is Dahua's technology for sending high-definition video over coaxial cable, so existing coax can be reused. Dahua states it supports up to 700m for 4MP video over coax and 300m over UTP cable. Read more in our guide to Dahua HDCVI cameras.

Which recorder do I need?

The camera outputs HDCVI and CVBS at the same time on two BNC connectors, so use a recorder that supports HDCVI. Most Dahua XVRs auto-detect the camera type per channel; see our guide to Dahua Penta-brid recorders, or tell us your recorder model and we will confirm.

How far does the night vision reach?

The IR distance is up to 30m (98ft). Smart IR adjusts the LED intensity to the distance of the object, so it does not overexpose subjects as they come closer to the camera.

Is it weatherproof and vandal-resistant?

It is rated IP67 for water and dust and IK10 for impact, and works from -30°C to +60°C, so it suits indoor or outdoor use.

How is it powered?

It runs on 12V DC (±25% tolerance) and draws up to 4.4W with the IR on. Dahua lists 12V power adapters as optional accessories.

Do I need to run new cable?

Usually not. If the existing coax is sound it will carry the HD signal. Choose IP cameras instead when cabling from scratch and you want one cable carrying both power and video.
