The Hikvision DS-2CD2046G2H-IU is a compact 4MP AcuSense bullet with an F1.0 lens and a power draw of just 7 watts — an unusually capable combination at this size.

An F1.0 lens on a mini bullet

F1.0 is the widest aperture Hikvision fit, and it is normally reserved for their ColorVu and DeepinView ranges. Here it sits in a Ø74.4 × 179.2 mm body weighing 525g.

The practical effect is 0.001 lux in colour — the camera stays in colour further into dusk before the infrared takes over, which is when most useful detail is lost on a cheaper lens.

Seven watts

It runs on 802.3af Class 3 at a maximum of 7W. That is among the lightest draws of any camera we stock, and it matters when you are filling a switch: sixteen of these need 112W, against 288W for sixteen deterrence bullets.

On a modest NVR with built-in PoE, that difference decides whether you can use every port.

AcuSense, and a microphone

Deep-learning classification runs on the camera, separating people and vehicles from leaves, rain, headlights and animals — with line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and exit, plus face capture.

Identification under seven metres, as on any 4MP fixed-lens camera. Use it where people come close — a door, a gate, a driveway — and put a longer-lens camera where you need reach.

Worth knowing before you order

The lens is fixed — 2.8mm or 4mm, chosen at order. No motorised zoom, so aim it by where you mount it.

120dB WDR rather than the 130dB of the current G3 range — worth noting where backlight is severe.

2.8mm covers 100° for a driveway or forecourt; 4mm narrows to 81° and identifies a little further. It is fixed, so decide before ordering.
