The Hikvision DS-2CD2046G3-IZ2UY/SL is the active deterrence version of the G3 audio bullet. It does not just record an intruder — it lights them up and speaks to them.

What the /SL adds

The base DS-2CD2046G3-IZ2UY has two microphones and a speaker. /SL adds a white strobe light — Hikvision's code for strobe light and audio alarm, and the basis of what they call Live Guard.

The sequence matters more than the components. AcuSense classifies a person crossing a line at 2am; the strobe fires; a pre-recorded warning plays through the speaker; you get a notification and can speak live if you want to. Most people leave. That is a different outcome from footage of a theft.

Why AcuSense is what makes it usable

A strobe and siren triggering on every cat, moth or headlight is worse than no deterrent at all — you disable it within a week, and then it is not there when it matters. The deep-learning classification is the part that makes active deterrence survive contact with a real site, because it fires for people and vehicles and ignores the rest.

It supports line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exit, each able to trigger on humans or vehicles specifically, plus face capture.

What it will actually show you

Identification happens under eight metres — which suits a deterrence camera, since it is normally covering a door, gate or yard entrance people come close to.

Worth knowing before you order

It needs 802.3at PoE, not 802.3af. Up to 16W — the strobe, speaker and audio hardware all draw power. Check your switch or NVR, and budget across all ports.

There is a red and blue version. The /SRB variant replaces the white strobe with red and blue flashing light, which is considerably more assertive. Ask us if that suits the site better.

Point the strobe with care. Like any white light it is visible to neighbours as well as intruders. Aimed into your own yard it is excellent; aimed at a bedroom window across the street it will cause a complaint.

Can I speak through it live?

Yes. As well as playing a pre-recorded warning it has a speaker and two microphones for live two-way audio through Hik-Connect or a compatible NVR.

Will it trigger on animals?

It should not. AcuSense classifies people and vehicles specifically, which is what stops a deterrence camera becoming a nuisance and being switched off.

Does my PoE switch support it?

Only if it does 802.3at. At up to 16W this needs more than 802.3af provides.

What is the difference from the /SRB?

Light colour. /SL is a white strobe; /SRB flashes red and blue.
