The Hikvision DS-2CD2087G3-LI2UY is the 4K version of the G3 Smart Hybrid Light mini bullet — same compact body, same F1.0 lens, twice the pixels.

4K or 4MP? The honest comparison

This and the 4MP version are the same camera at different resolutions, and each beats the other at something:

4K buys distance; 4MP buys darkness. Both share the same 1/1.8" sensor, so spreading it across twice as many pixels makes each one smaller and less sensitive — which is why the 4MP model is five times better in low light.

Choose this one where you need identification further out — a driveway, a forecourt, a yard entrance at ten metres. Choose the 4MP where the scene is genuinely dark and the subject comes close, or where you are mounting near a doorway (its 2.5m minimum focus is more forgiving).

Colour at night, or discreet infrared

Smart Hybrid Light carries white light and infrared together, to 40 metres. Run it on IR for monochrome where visible light would trouble neighbours, on white light for full colour, or let it switch automatically when something is detected.

The F1.0 aperture — the widest Hikvision fit — means it holds colour down to 0.0005 lux before needing any light at all.

It hears and it talks back

Two arrayed microphones with noise filtering, and a speaker up to 110 dB for live two-way audio or a recorded warning. AcuSense classifies people and vehicles on the camera, so it only fires for things that matter.

Worth knowing before you order

Minimum focus is 3.3 metres. Mounted directly above a doorway at head height, the image will be soft. This camera wants standoff — which suits its longer identification range anyway.

The lens is fixed — 2.8mm for width, 4mm for reach and a better identify distance. Decide before ordering.

It needs 802.3at PoE, up to 18W. An 802.3af switch will not run it.

There is no alarm input or output — no S in the model number. The /SL and /SRB variants add a strobe.

Frequently asked questions

Is 4K better than the 4MP version?

For distance, yes — identification at 10 metres against 7. For low light, no: the 4MP model works down to 0.0001 lux against 0.0005 here, because its pixels are larger.

What is Smart Hybrid Light?

Both infrared and white light in one camera. Use IR for discretion, white light for colour, or let it switch automatically. Our model numbers guide decodes the LI in the name.

Can I speak through it?

Yes — two microphones and a speaker give two-way audio through Hik-Connect or a compatible NVR.

How close can it focus?

3.3 metres at 2.8mm, 3.8 metres at 4mm. Give it some standoff.

Which lens should I choose?

2.8mm covers 108.8° and identifies at 8m; 4mm narrows to 93.3° and identifies at 10m. Fixed, so choose before ordering.
