The DS-2CD2346G2H-IS2U/SL is a 4 MP fixed turret from Hikvision's G2H AcuSense range, built around active deterrence. When it classifies a person or a vehicle inside a rule you've drawn, it fires a white strobe and an audible warning through its own speaker — the intruder is challenged on site, rather than the event simply being recorded for someone to find later.
AcuSense deep-learning classification filters people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting can be set to trigger only on the target types that matter.
The two cameras share a body, a strobe, a speaker and the same analytics. The difference is the sensor, and it is larger than the megapixel figures suggest: this camera uses a 1/3" sensor, the 8 MP model a 1/1.8". That affects low-light performance as well as detail. If the scene is dim as well as wide, the 8 MP model is not simply "more pixels" — it is a bigger sensor gathering more light. Where this 4 MP version wins is bit rate: an 8 Mbps ceiling against 16 Mbps means roughly half the storage and half the load on the recorder per camera.
This SKU is the 2.8 mm fixed-lens version on an M12 mount: horizontal FOV 100°, vertical 55°, diagonal 120°, depth of field from 1.9 m. Hikvision's published DORI figures at 2.8 mm are detect 63 m, observe 25 m, recognise 12 m, identify 6 m. Treat the identify figure as the real constraint — for evidential facial detail the subject needs to be within about 6 m of this lens. The 4 mm version of the same camera narrows the view to 81° and pushes identification to roughly 7 m.
Hikvision publishes one datasheet covering both variants, and they differ in a single line: the /SL carries a white light, the /SRB a red-and-blue flashing light. This listing is the white-light /SL. Sensor, lens, analytics and audio are otherwise identical.
Yes. The camera's own event rules drive both, so it deters on a standalone install. A recorder is only needed for centralised recording and review.
Custom audio warnings can be uploaded through the camera's web interface alongside the default tones.
No. This is AcuSense with infrared night vision, so the image goes to black and white in darkness. For full colour at night, look at the ColorVu or Smart Hybrid Light models.
It supports ONVIF Profile S, T and G, so it will record on most ONVIF recorders. The AcuSense classification, strobe and audio features are best supported on Hikvision recorders.
