The Hikvision DS-2CD2546G3-IZS2UY is a 4MP AcuSense mini dome — low-profile, vandal-rated, and the only camera in the G3 range with both audio and alarm connections.

The S is what makes this one different

Reading the suffix: I infrared, Z motorised zoom, S interface, 2U two microphones, Y anti-corrosion. That S gives you physical terminals the bullets do not have:

• 1 alarm input and 1 alarm output (max 12V DC, 30mA) — wire a PIR, a door contact or a beam to the camera, or have the camera trigger a sounder or gate
• 1 audio line in and 1 line out — connect an external microphone or amplifier where the built-in mics are not enough

On top of that, the 2U gives an arrayed dual-microphone with noise filtering built in. So you get on-board audio for ordinary use and terminals for when the job needs more.

Low profile, and built to take a hit

At Ø113.6 × 74.6 mm and 400g this sits close to the ceiling or soffit — far less obtrusive than a bullet. It is rated IK08 for impact as well as IP67 for weather, with an aluminium base and a NEMA 4X anti-corrosion finish.

That combination suits the places a bullet gets damaged: stairwells, shop entrances, communal areas, car parks, anywhere reachable.

It sips power

Maximum 8W on 802.3af Class 3 — half what the audio bullet draws. On a 16-port switch with a modest budget that is the difference between filling every port and rationing them.

Identification under eight metres, as on every 4MP camera — which suits a dome over a doorway or till rather well.

AcuSense and low light

Deep-learning classification runs on the camera, separating people and vehicles from leaves, headlights, rain and animals, with line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and exit, plus face capture. Powered-by-DarkFighter holds colour down to 0.001 lux before the 30m infrared takes over, and 130 dB WDR handles a subject against a bright doorway.

Worth knowing before you order

Pan is limited to ±30°. That is normal for a mini dome and rarely a problem — but it means you aim the camera by where you mount it far more than with a bullet. Plan the position.

The zoom range is narrow — 2.8–4mm is wide-angle at both ends.

What does the S give me?

Physical terminals: one alarm input and one output, plus audio line in and line out. Useful for wiring a PIR or door contact to the camera, or having it trigger a sounder.

Is it vandal resistant?

IK08 — tested against a 5-joule impact. Suitable for reachable positions, though IK10 models exist if the risk is higher.

Can I speak through it?

No, there is no speaker. It has two microphones for listening and a line out for an external amplifier.

How much PoE does it need?

Only 8W on 802.3af Class 3 — one of the lightest loads in the G3 range.

What does NEMA 4X add over IP67?
