The Hikvision DS-2CD2647G3-LIZS2UY/SL is the flagship of the G3 range, and the first with a genuine zoom lens. Everything else in the family uses a 2.8–4mm "point varifocal" — wide-angle at both ends. This one runs 2.8 to 12mm.
Because the lens actually reaches, the DORI figures change enormously between the two ends:
| Wide (2.8mm) | Tele (12mm) | |
|---|---|---|
| Detect | 61.5 m | 151.7 m |
| Observe | 24.4 m | 60.2 m |
| Recognise | 12.3 m | 30.3 m |
| Identify | 6.2 m | 15.1 m |
Zoomed in, this camera identifies a stranger at over fifteen metres — more than twice the 4MP fixed-lens models, and it does it with the same 4MP sensor by concentrating those pixels on a narrower scene.
The field of view runs from 114.6° down to 41.8°, and the lens is motorised, so you set it from the desk. One camera covers either a whole forecourt or a single gate at distance — decided after it is mounted, and changed whenever the requirement does.
It carries both white light and infrared, to 60 metres. Run it in IR for discreet monochrome, in white light for full colour after dark, or let it switch automatically.
The F1.2 aperture on a large 1/1.8" sensor holds colour down to 0.0005 lux before any light is needed at all — the best low-light figure of any camera in this range.
AcuSense classifies people and vehicles on the camera, so the siren and strobe fire for things that matter rather than for weather and wildlife.
IK10 — the highest impact rating in common use, tested to 20 joules — plus IP67 and NEMA 4X anti-corrosion. All-metal front, body and bracket. It is a substantial unit at 334mm and 1.55kg.
It also has EIS — electronic image stabilisation — which matters on a pole, a high mast or anywhere the mount moves in wind.
It needs 802.3at PoE — up to 18W. An 802.3af switch will not run it, and eight of these need 144W of budget.
It is large and heavy. 334mm and over 1.5kg; check the mounting surface and use the supplied metal bracket.
Aim the white light with care on residential boundaries — it is visible, which is part of the deterrent but also what generates complaints.
Recording audio and using active deterrence carry legal considerations — see our FAQ on CCTV law.
The lens. Everything else in the range is 2.8–4mm, which is wide-angle at both ends. This is a true 2.8–12mm zoom, so identification reaches 15 metres instead of under 7.
Yes, with the white light on. It also runs on infrared alone if you want discretion — that is what Smart Hybrid Light means.
Two outputs, each 24V DC or AC at 1A — a sounder and a floodlight contactor, for example, or any two devices.
Tested against a 20-joule impact, the highest rating in common use. Appropriate anywhere the camera is reachable.
Only if it supports 802.3at. At 18W this exceeds 802.3af.
