The Hikvision DS-2CD2687G3-LIZS2UY/SL is the 4K version of the G3 flagship — and it reaches further than anything else in the range.

And it does it at a full 25fps. Unlike the 12MP and 16MP turrets, which drop to 20 and 12.5fps at maximum resolution, this records 4K at 25 frames per second with no compromise.

Colour at night, to 60 metres

Smart Hybrid Light carries both white light and infrared to 60 metres. Run it in IR for discreet monochrome, in white light for full colour after dark, or let it switch automatically when something is detected.

The F1.2 aperture on a 1/1.8" sensor holds colour down to 0.0005 lux before any light is needed — starlight, effectively.

Deterrence and control hardware

Worth knowing before you order

It needs 802.3at PoE — up to 18W. Eight of these require 144W of switch budget.

It is large — 334mm and over 1.5kg. Check the mounting surface.

How far can it identify someone?

22 metres zoomed in, 8.9 metres at the wide end — the longest identification range of any camera in this range.

How does it compare to the 4MP version?

Same body, same features, twice the pixels. Identification goes from 15.1m to 22m and detection from 152m to 220m. It also uses roughly twice the storage.

Does 4K slow the frame rate?

No. It records 4K at a full 25fps, unlike the 12MP and 16MP turrets which drop to 20 and 12.5fps.

Does it record in colour at night?

Yes, with the white light on, or on infrared alone for discretion.

Will my PoE switch run it?

Only if it supports 802.3at. At 18W this exceeds 802.3af.
