The DS-2CD2H46G2H-IZSY is the adjustable-lens member of Hikvision's G2H turret range. Where the fixed-lens models commit you to a 2.8 mm or 4 mm field of view at the point of ordering, this one carries a motorised 2.8–12 mm varifocal lens that is set remotely from the browser or client software after the camera is on the wall. For any install where the exact framing is not certain in advance — or where the view may need to change later — that is the practical argument for spending more per camera.

AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting trigger only on real targets. Face capture is supported.

What the zoom actually buys you

The DORI figures make the case better than any marketing line. At the wide end the camera detects to 63.4 m and identifies at 6.3 m. At the tele end it detects to 108.6 m and identifies at 18.1 m — nearly three times the identification distance. One camera therefore covers either a broad forecourt view or an evidential view of a gate or doorway at distance, and the decision can be revisited without a site visit to swap hardware.

The trade-off is the 40 m IR range. Zoom to the tele end at night and the optics will reach well beyond what the illuminator lights, so long-range identification after dark depends on ambient or added lighting.

Built for places where cameras get attacked

This is the toughest housing in the G2H turret family: metal base and metal cover, IP67, IK10 and NEMA 4X. IK10 is the top impact rating in IEC 62262 — worth specifying for ground-floor entrances, custody areas, school corridors, licensed premises and anywhere the camera is within reach.

Frequently asked questions

Is the zoom adjusted remotely or by hand?

Remotely. The lens is motorised, so focal length and focus are set from the web interface or client software — no ladder needed once it is mounted.

Does it have a microphone built in?

No. It has a line-in audio input for an external microphone. Several other cameras in the G2H range do include microphones.

What does IK10 mean in practice?

It is the highest impact class in IEC 62262, tested against a 20 joule strike. It is the rating to specify where the camera is within reach of the public.

Will it work on a third-party NVR?

It supports ONVIF Profile S, T and G, so it will record on most ONVIF recorders. AcuSense classification is best supported on Hikvision recorders.
