The Hikvision DS-2CD2T46G2H-IS2U/SL is a 4MP AcuSense bullet with active deterrence — white strobe, a 120 dB speaker, two microphones and an alarm relay — built around an F1.0 lens.

Deterrence that fires for the right reasons

Detection triggers a sequence: AcuSense classifies a person or vehicle, the white strobe fires, a warning plays through the 120 dB speaker — the loudest rating Hikvision publish — and the alarm output switches whatever you have wired to it. You can also speak live through the two microphones and speaker.

The classification is what makes it usable. A siren firing at every cat or gust of rain gets disabled within a fortnight; people-and-vehicle detection means it fires for what matters.

The /SRB variant flashes red and blue instead of white.

An F1.0 lens and 60 metres of infrared

F1.0 is the widest aperture Hikvision fit, giving 0.001 lux in colour — the camera holds colour further into dusk before the infrared takes over. When it does, 60 metres of IR covers the far end of a yard.

The 60 metres of infrared roughly matches the detection range, so the camera can see across everything it can detect in. Identification still happens under seven metres — use this to cover an area and put a second camera where people pass close.

Worth knowing before you order

The lens is fixed. Choose 2.8mm or 4mm before ordering — you aim it by where you mount it.

It needs 802.3at PoE at up to 18W. An 802.3af switch will not run it, and eight of these need 144W.

Point the strobe with care near residential boundaries — visible to neighbours as well as intruders.

How loud is the speaker?

Up to 120 dB at 10cm — the loudest rating in the range, and audible across a yard or forecourt.

Can I speak through it live?

Yes. Two microphones and a speaker give live two-way audio through Hik-Connect or a compatible NVR, as well as recorded warnings.

Should I buy this or the G3 version?

The G3 adds a motorised lens for about £8 more, letting you set the zoom remotely. This one has the wider F1.0 aperture for better colour in dim light. Both have 60m IR.

What can the alarm output switch?

Up to 24V AC or DC at 1A — a sounder, relay module or gate trigger.

Will it trigger on animals?

It should not. AcuSense classifies people and vehicles specifically.
