This is the 4 mm version of Hikvision's 8 MP G2H fixed bullet: a 1/1.8" sensor at 3840 × 2160, AcuSense human and vehicle classification, DarkFighter low-light performance and 60 m of infrared in a full metal IP67 housing. It is the recording camera of the family rather than the deterrence camera — no strobe, no speaker, no audio.
AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting trigger only on real targets. Face capture is supported.
Same camera, different lens. At 4 mm the field of view is 90° horizontal and the DORI figures are detect 109 m, observe 43 m, recognise 21 m, identify 10 m. At 2.8 mm the view widens to 105.1° but the figures drop to 89 m detect and 8 m identify.
Choose 4 mm where the camera looks down a length — a driveway, a car park aisle, a service road — and detail at distance matters. Choose 2.8 mm for breadth close in. Note the 4 mm holds focus from 3.8 m rather than 3.3 m, so it is the weaker option for anything mounted close to its subject.
One honest limit on this variant: the optics now reach considerably further than the light does. The 4 mm lens detects to 109 m but the 2I's infrared stops at 60 m. In genuine darkness beyond that distance you need ambient or added lighting. If the whole point of the install is long-range night coverage, the DS-2CD2T86G2H-4I carries an 80 m illuminator and pairs far better with this lens.
Maximum 12.5 W over IEEE 802.3af Class 3. The strobe-and-siren IS2U/SL models in the same family need 802.3at, so this camera drops into existing af infrastructure without a switch upgrade — and without giving up any image quality, since both share the same 1/1.8" sensor and F1.0 lens.
The 2I carries no microphone, no speaker and no audio or alarm terminal block. Ethernet port, microSD slot and reset key are the only physical interfaces. For two-way audio, an on-camera siren, or wiring in a detector or sounder, look at the ISU, IS2U or IS2U/SL models.
Not better, different. It sees further with more detail over a narrower field. For close, wide coverage the 2.8 mm is the right choice.
The 4I has 80 m infrared instead of 60 m. If the view is long and unlit, the 4I is the better match for a 4 mm lens.
No — the 2I has no audio hardware.
It supports ONVIF Profile S, T and G, so it will record on most ONVIF recorders. AcuSense classification is best supported on Hikvision recorders.
