The Hikvision DS-2CD6445G2-C1/HDMI is a separated 4MP camera with an HDMI output — the lens sits on a cable, the body hides away, and the picture can go straight to a screen without a recorder in between.
Plug a monitor into the camera and you have a public-view display: the screen at a shop entrance showing customers their own image as they walk in. It is one of the most effective and least expensive deterrents in retail, and it works whether or not anything is being recorded.
Because the output is standard HDMI, any ordinary monitor or TV will do. No recorder, no encoder, no software — one cable from camera to screen.
The network side still works normally alongside it, so the same camera can feed your NVR while driving the display.
The body measures 105 × 78 × 26 mm and hides in a ceiling void, a cabinet or behind a fascia. What shows at the scene is a small lens head on a 2-metre or 8-metre cable.
That suits listed and sensitive buildings, retail interiors where a dome would change the feel of the space, ATMs and till points, and anywhere a conventional camera would be tampered with.
| Focal length | Horizontal view | Identify at |
|---|---|---|
| 2 mm | 128° — ultra wide | 4.5 m |
| 2.8 mm | 104.8° | 6.0 m |
| 4 mm | 79.6° | 8.0 m |
The 2mm module covers 128 degrees — near enough a whole doorway and its approach from a single small aperture. The 4mm reaches furthest, identifying at eight metres.
It captures faces and reads attributes, which is the feature that makes a public-view display more than a mirror. Line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and exit are all supported with human and vehicle classification.
It is also a HEOP camera — Hikvision's open platform, with 4 TOPS of onboard computing and support for custom models in Caffe, PyTorch or TensorFlow. Most buyers will not need it; integrators building bespoke analytics will.
Digital WDR, not true WDR. The two-head DS-2CD6425G2-C2 has 120dB true WDR; this one does not. Against a bright shop doorway that difference shows, so consider where the light falls before choosing.
No infrared and no weather rating. Indoor, lit spaces only.
One lens head, not two. The C2 model takes two; this takes one, at 4MP rather than 1080p.
Lens modules are ordered separately — tell us the distance and what you need to resolve and we will work out which suits.
Covert recording carries obligations beyond ordinary CCTV. See our FAQ on CCTV law and take advice before deploying in a workplace.
Yes — standard HDMI, so any monitor or TV with an HDMI input works. That is the point of this model.
Yes. The network side works normally alongside the HDMI output, so it can feed a recorder and drive a display at the same time.
2mm for a very wide doorway view, 4mm if you need identification at eight metres. Tell us the distance and we will advise.
Neither. Indoor use in lit spaces only.
This has one 4MP lens head and an HDMI output. The C2 has two 1080p heads, 120dB true WDR and 50fps, but no HDMI.
