The Hikvision DS-2CD6825G0/C-IS is a dual-lens people counter — two lenses set apart, giving the camera depth perception. That is what separates an accurate footfall count from an approximate one.
A single-lens camera counting people from overhead sees a flat image. It struggles with the cases that actually occur in a doorway: two people walking close together, someone carrying a large box, a parent with a child, a trolley.
Two lenses give stereoscopic depth, so the camera knows how tall each object is and how far apart two objects really are. In practice that means:
If the number is going into a report someone makes decisions from — staffing, opening hours, conversion rate — that accuracy is the entire point of the purchase.
This is a 168 × 61 × 41 mm bar, designed to sit above a doorway looking straight down. The 2mm lenses cover 104.5° horizontally, which takes in a typical entrance from normal ceiling height.
It reports by email on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual cycle, or uploads in real time — so the data reaches whoever needs it without anyone logging into a camera.
The S in the model number adds terminals most cameras of this type lack: 1 alarm input and 1 output at 24V DC 1A, audio line in and line out, and RS-485. There is a built-in microphone too.
That lets the counter drive something directly — an occupancy display, a door signal, an alert when a threshold is crossed.
This is a counting instrument, not a security camera. At 1080p from overhead with a 6-metre infrared range, it is not intended to identify anyone. Put a conventional camera at the door if you need that as well.
Mounting height and position matter more than usual. Stereoscopic counting depends on the camera looking straight down from a suitable height across the full width of the opening. Tell us the door width and ceiling height and we will confirm it will work before you order.
No weather rating on this variant. The -V models are IP67; this one is for indoor doorways and covered entrances.
The /RC fisheye models also count people, alongside queue management and heat mapping, across a whole room. This is more accurate at a single doorway because of the depth sensing, but it only does counting and it only covers the one opening.
Many sites use both: a dual-lens counter on each entrance for the headline number, and a fisheye inside for dwell time and queueing.
Considerably more accurate than single-lens counting, because the two lenses give it depth. It separates people walking close together and filters out anything below a height you set.
Yes — target filtering by height lets you set a minimum, so shorter objects are not counted.
Email reports on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual cycle, or real-time upload to a client or VMS.
No. It is a counting instrument mounted overhead — use a separate camera for identification.
Not this variant. The -V models carry IP67; this one is for indoor and covered entrances.
