The Hikvision DS-7604NI-K1/4P/4G(C) is a 4-channel network video recorder with four built-in PoE ports and a built-in 4G mobile network connection — so a small system can be viewed remotely from a site with no broadband.
Who is it for?
Small sites with no fixed line and no prospect of one: a construction compound, a lock-up, a paddock or stable block, a remote car park, a plant store. Put a SIM in the recorder and four cameras can be checked from a phone without waiting on a broadband installation that may never be worth doing.
It is also the answer where a line exists but the cameras should not be on it — a shared building, a tenant's network, or a site whose IT department will not allow CCTV on the corporate LAN.
Data usage is the thing to plan for
4G data costs money and CCTV can eat it. The recorder still records everything locally to its own disk — the mobile link carries live view and playback when you connect, not a constant upload. Set the app to the substream and a month of routine checking costs very little.

What you'll need with it
- A data SIM. Tell us how often the site will be checked and we will suggest an allowance.
- A hard drive — none is supplied. Use a surveillance-rated drive such as WD Purple. Size it with our CCTV storage calculator.
- Reasonable mobile signal at the recorder position. Steel-clad buildings and basements often need an external antenna — check the signal before installation day, not on it.
Frequently asked questions
Does it need broadband as well?
No. The 4G connection replaces a fixed line for remote viewing.
Will it use a lot of data?
Only when you connect. Recording happens locally to the disk; the mobile link carries live view and playback on demand.
Does it come with a hard drive or a SIM?
Neither. Both are supplied separately.
What if I need more than four cameras?
The DS-7608NI-K1/8P/4G(C) is the same idea with eight channels and eight PoE ports.
Will you have stock?
Ask us. 4G recorders are not stocked as deeply as the mainstream range, so check availability and lead time before committing to a site date.
