The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/Vpro is an 8-channel network video recorder with eight built-in PoE ports and AcuSeek — Hikvision's AI-driven video search, running on a second dedicated engine.

What AcuSeek actually changes

Ordinary recorders make you search by time. AcuSearch improved on that by letting you search by target type. AcuSeek goes further: you describe what you are looking for and it finds it. The search runs in plain English on the recorder itself.

The VPro carries two AI engines — one handling face recognition and AcuSearch, a second dedicated to AcuSeek — and models up to 300,000 targets a day against 172,800 on the standard I-series. On a site where footage gets reviewed regularly rather than only after an incident, that is the difference this range is sold on.

Who is it for?

Eight-camera sites where somebody actually uses the footage: retail, licensed premises, transport yards, anywhere staff or managers search recordings weekly rather than annually. If the recorder will only ever be looked at after a break-in, the standard DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S costs less and records identically.

What you'll need with it

• AcuSense cameras. This matters more here than on any other recorder: AcuSeek and AcuSearch need cameras that support Hikvision AcuSense with AcuSearch enabled. Paired with older or third-party cameras you are paying for an engine you cannot use. Send us your camera models and we will confirm before you order.
• Hard drives — none are supplied. Two bays at up to 20 TB each, more than any other 8-channel recorder in the range. Size them with our CCTV storage calculator.
• Cameras within the 120 W PoE budget — comfortable for eight, with headroom for a PTZ.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between AcuSearch and AcuSeek?

AcuSearch finds footage by target type — person, vehicle and so on. AcuSeek lets you describe what you are looking for and returns matching clips. The VPro runs both, on separate engines.

Do I need special cameras?

Yes for the AI features. AcuSense cameras with AcuSearch enabled. The recorder still records any ONVIF camera perfectly well — you simply would not get the search.

How is it different from the DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S?

The S records identically. The VPro adds the second engine, AcuSeek, nearly double the target modelling, and 20 TB disk support against 16 TB.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Two SATA drives up to 20 TB each, supplied separately.
