The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K1/8P/VPro is an 8-channel network video recorder with eight built-in PoE ports and AcuSeek AI video search — the most affordable way into AcuSeek in the range.

Be clear which VPro this is

Hikvision uses the VPro name across two quite different tiers, and the difference matters:

• This K-series VPro models 50,000 targets a day and searches in English only. One drive bay.
• The I-series VPro models (DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/Vpro and up) run two dedicated AI engines, model 300,000 targets a day — six times as many — search in 26 languages, and take two or four bays at up to 20 TB.

For a small site with a handful of cameras, 50,000 targets a day is plenty and this is the sensible buy. On a busy retail floor or a yard with constant vehicle movement, the modelling limit is what you would hit first, and the I-series VPro is worth the step up. Tell us the site and we will say which.

An unusual extra — IP speaker support

This model takes four IP speaker inputs, which most recorders at this price do not. That allows automated audio warnings triggered by the analytics — a spoken challenge when someone crosses a perimeter line after hours, for example. On yards and forecourts that is often more effective than recording the incident and reviewing it later.

What you'll need with it

• AcuSense cameras. AcuSeek and AcuSearch require cameras supporting Hikvision AcuSense with AcuSearch enabled. Without them you are paying for a feature you cannot use — send us your models and we will confirm before you order.
• A hard drive — none is supplied. One bay, up to 16 TB. Use a surveillance-rated drive such as WD Purple. Size it with our CCTV storage calculator.
• Cameras within the 75 W PoE budget — about 9 W per camera across eight ports. Fine for fixed cameras, not for PTZs or heated housings.

Is this the same AcuSeek as the more expensive VPro models?

The same feature, a smaller engine. This models 50,000 targets a day in English; the I-series VPro models 300,000 across 26 languages. On a quiet site you would not notice; on a busy one you would.

How many drives does it take?

One, up to 16 TB. If you need longer retention, the DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/Vpro takes two disks at up to 20 TB each.

What are the IP speaker inputs for?

Automated spoken warnings triggered by the analytics — useful on yards and forecourts where deterring an intruder beats recording them.

Does it come with a hard drive?
