The Hikvision iDS-2CD5347G2/V-XS is a DeepinViewX turret carrying a set of analytics normally found on cameras costing two or three times as much — on 12.7 watts of standard PoE.

• On/off duty detection — flags when a post is left unattended for longer than a set period. Genuinely unusual, and useful for security desks, tills and control rooms
• AcuSeek — search recorded footage for humans or vehicles (requires an AcuSeek NVR or server)
• AI Open Platform — load your own trained model; four packages, 16 target types, 64 classifications

That is a business-intelligence camera and a security camera in one body, at a price that sits close to a good AcuSense turret.

What it will resolve

Identification under about seven metres, as on any 4MP fixed-lens camera — which suits its job, since face capture and duty detection both want the camera reasonably close to the subject.

Twelve watts

At 12.7W on 802.3at it draws roughly half what the DeepinViewX bullets need. On a switch running a dozen cameras that is the difference between fitting and not.

Worth knowing before you order

The lens is fixed — 2.8mm or 4mm, chosen at order. No motorised zoom.

AcuSeek needs a compatible recorder. The camera supports it; the search itself runs on an AcuSeek NVR or server.

10/100 ethernet, not gigabit — ample at 8 Mbps, but worth knowing.

Face capture is not face recognition. This captures and extracts features; matching against a database is a separate function on other models.

What is on/off duty detection?

It flags when someone is absent from a position for longer than a set time. Useful for security desks, tills, gatehouses and control rooms.

How many faces can it handle?

Up to 60 simultaneously, with the capture angle adjustable ±60° horizontally and ±30° vertically.
