The Hikvision iDS-2CD7A46G2/LM-IZHSY does two jobs most cameras cannot: it reads number plates to ANPR standard, and it runs your own AI models on board.
Hikvision quote, under recommended installation and lighting:
With the lists held locally, a barrier or gate can open on a recognised plate without the network or a server being involved. That matters on a site where the link is unreliable.
The camera takes up to three custom models — detection, classification or mixed — supporting video analysis, OCR, segmentation and picture comparison. Four model packages, each detecting up to 16 target types and classifying up to 64.
It ships with PPE detection built in: hard hats and reflective clothing. On a construction site, a yard or a plant room, that is a working safety-compliance camera with no additional software.
Rules include line crossing counts, region occupancy counts, area overlap ratios and combined conditions — the building blocks of a genuine process-monitoring installation rather than simple intrusion alerts.
A plate-reading camera lives with the worst light there is: headlights straight into the lens at night, low sun behind the vehicle by day. 150 dB of true wide dynamic range with an F1.4 P-iris lens, auto focus and a blue glass module to suppress ghosting is what makes plates readable in those frames.
It works to 0.0005 lux in colour, with 60 metres of infrared (100m on the 8–32mm lens).
This camera is rated under the new IEC/EN 62676-4:2025 standard, which replaces the familiar four DORI levels with seven — Overview, Outline, Discern, Perceive, Characterize, Validate and Scrutinize. At 2.8–12mm:
| Level | Wide | Tele |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | 75.9 m | 160.3 m |
| Discern | 19.0 m | 40.1 m |
| Characterize (≈ old Identify) | 6.1 m | 12.8 m |
| Validate | 3.0 m | 6.4 m |
| Scrutinize | 1.0 m | 2.1 m |
The 8–32mm lens reaches much further — Overview to 500m and Characterize at 40m. For a checkpoint or a long approach, that is the one to specify.
ANPR is unforgiving about installation. The published accuracy assumes recommended mounting height, angle and lighting. Give us the approach distance, lane width and mounting position and we will tell you whether it will work before you buy.
The 8–32mm lens is usually the right one for plates at a gate or checkpoint. The 2.8–12mm suits closer, wider scenes.
No NEMA 4X on this model, unlike the DeepinViewX perimeter cameras. It is IP67 and IK10, but for a coastal or chemical site consider the /V-XZHSY instead.
No RS-485 and no auxiliary power output on this variant.
It needs 802.3at at 23.6W.
Yes. The blocklist and allowlist hold up to 10,000 plates on the camera, and the alarm output can trigger a barrier directly — no server involved.
Hard hat and reflective clothing detection ships built in, so the camera can flag someone entering an area without the right equipment. Useful on construction, industrial and plant sites.
The seven-level performance scale in the 2025 revision of EN 62676-4, replacing the older four-level DORI. Characterize is roughly equivalent to the old Identify.
Usually the 8–32mm, which reaches much further. Tell us the distance to the plate and we will confirm.
Yes — up to three custom models covering detection, classification, OCR, segmentation and comparison.
