Hikvision iDS-7204HUHI-M1/PXT - 4 Channel 5MP AcuSense PoC DVR

The Hikvision iDS-7204HUHI-M1/PXT is a 4-channel 5MP AcuSense PoC DVR. The P is the point: it powers the cameras over the same coaxial cable that carries the video, so each camera needs one cable and nothing else.

PoC removes the power run — and that is usually the expensive part

On a normal coax install every camera needs video cable and a power run back to a PSU, or a local socket. On a PoC system the recorder sends 48V down the coax. One cable per camera, no power supply box, no spur to fuse, no socket at height.

Where that really pays is a retrofit with existing coax in the walls. If there is already a video cable to each camera position but the power runs are tired or awkward, PoC lets you reuse the cable and drop the power problem entirely.

It requires Hikvision PoC cameras. Ordinary HD-TVI cameras will work on the video but will still need their own power, so plan the camera choice alongside the recorder — ask us and we will match them.

The AI is in the recorder, not the cameras

People and vehicle classification runs on the recorder, so your cameras do not need to be AcuSense models. It separates people and vehicles from leaves, headlights, rain and animals, and lets you search recordings by object or event type. Up to 4 channels of perimeter protection and 2-channel face comparison against 16 libraries.

It accepts 8MP cameras — with one catch

Full 8MP recording at 8 fps is available on channel 1 only; channels 2 to 4 record 8MP Lite at 15 fps. Put the camera that matters most — the gate, the till, the entrance — on channel 1.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need power supplies for my cameras?

Not with Hikvision PoC cameras — the recorder powers them over the coax. Non-PoC cameras will still need their own supply.

Can I reuse my existing coax?

Usually yes, and that is the main reason to choose PoC on a retrofit. Cable condition and length matter, so tell us the runs involved.

Will AcuSense work with my existing cameras?

Yes. The analysis happens in the recorder, so any analogue camera on a BNC channel gets people and vehicle classification.

Can I record four 8MP cameras at full resolution?

No. Channel 1 records 8MP at 8 fps; channels 2 to 4 record 8MP Lite.

Does it come with a hard drive?

No. One SATA drive up to 12TB, supplied separately.
