Hikvision iDS-9632NXI-M8/X - 32 Channel 8 Bay RAID DeepinMind NVR

The Hikvision iDS-9632NXI-M8/X is a 32-channel DeepinMind network video recorder in a 2U chassis, with eight SATA bays, full RAID support, two AI engines and 8K output.

Why the 9600 series rather than the 7700

Same DeepinMind analytics platform, but three things change at this level:

• RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 across eight bays — a failed disk no longer means lost footage. On a system carrying face-match evidence, that is the difference between a maintenance job and a serious problem.
• Face capture library doubles to 10,000,000 pictures, across up to 32 libraries rather than 16.
• Dual VGA alongside dual HDMI, so two full monitor pairs can run — a control room arrangement rather than a single screen.

It also brings 16 alarm inputs and 9 outputs with a controllable 12 VDC supply, and a keyboard port for a dedicated PTZ controller.

Be realistic about whether you need DeepinMind

Most sites do not. If you want fewer false alarms and quick searching, the DS-9632NI-M8 gives you the same eight-bay RAID chassis without the AI, and a VPro model gives you AcuSeek for far less. DeepinMind at this level earns its cost where face matching against a large watch list is an operational requirement, and where someone will administer the libraries properly.

Note there is no PoE — cameras are powered by switches, which is normal at this scale.

What you'll need with it

• Hard drives — none are supplied. Eight 3.5-inch bays at up to 16 TB. Remember RAID 5 costs one disk to parity and RAID 6 costs two. Size it with our CCTV storage calculator.
• PoE switches — this recorder does not power cameras.
• Cameras specified for the analytics. Face recognition depends on position, angle and pixel density on the face far more than megapixels. Talk to us before ordering.
• 2U of rack space with proper airflow — eight spinning disks generate real heat.

Frequently asked questions

Which RAID level should I use?

RAID 5 for most sites; RAID 6 where retention is long, since a rebuild across large disks takes days and RAID 6 survives a second failure during it. Never RAID 0 where the footage is evidence.

How does it compare to the iDS-7732NXI-M4/16P/X?

Same channels and bandwidth. This adds RAID, eight bays instead of four, double the face capture library, dual VGA and a keyboard port — but has no PoE.

Does it power my cameras?

No. Use switches.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Eight 3.5-inch SATA drives up to 16 TB each, supplied separately — surveillance-rated, not desktop.
