The Dahua VTO4202F-P-S3 is the camera module at the heart of Dahua's Pro Series modular apartment door station. It has a low-light 2MP camera with a 168.6° horizontal view, two-way audio with echo suppression, and an anodised aluminium front panel rated IP65 and IK07. It connects either over Dahua's digital 2-wire system (up to 50 m from a Dahua 2-wire switch) or directly to a network by RJ-45 with standard PoE (802.3af/at), so the same module suits a rewire-free upgrade of an older block or a new IP installation. Add call-button, keypad, card-reader and info modules alongside it to build the entrance panel a building needs. It is the newer S3 version and replaces the earlier IP-only DHI-VTO4202F-P (IP55). Who is it for?

Installers fitting door entry to blocks of flats, HMOs, offices and shared entrances. Residents answer on a Dahua indoor monitor or on their phone through the app, and can release the door remotely. It is especially useful where a building already has a pair of wires to each flat: with a Dahua 2-wire switch you can reuse that cabling instead of pulling new network cable.

What you will need

• At least one call-button module (or a keypad module) so visitors can call a flat
• A mounting box and front panel sized for the total number of modules, plus a rain cover for exposed positions
• Either a Dahua 2-wire switch (for 2-wire cabling) or a PoE network switch (802.3at if the 12 V output powers a lock)
• Dahua indoor monitors and/or the mobile app for residents, and an electric lock if you want door release
• Silicone sealant for the shell, as described in Dahua's quick start guide, to achieve the IP65 rating

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the VTO4202F-P-S3 and the VTO4202F-P?

The S3 is the newer camera module. It works on Dahua's digital 2-wire system as well as IP, and is rated IP65 (the older DHI-VTO4202F-P is IP-only and IP55).

Can I use it over existing intercom wiring?

Yes. In 2-wire mode it runs from a Dahua 2-wire switch over a single pair, up to 50 m, so older buildings can often be upgraded without new cable runs.

Can residents answer on their phone?

Yes. Dahua's mobile app lets users talk to visitors and unlock the door remotely.

Does it record visitors?

It supports leave-video messages when a Micro SD card (up to 256 GB) is fitted in the door station or indoor monitor.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. It is rated IP65 and IK07 and operates from -30°C to +60°C; fit a rain cover on exposed entrances.
