Sharper than 1080p, on your existing coax.

These Hikvision Turbo HD 3MP cameras send HD video over standard coax cable to an HD-TVI recorder. You get a sharper picture than 1080p without rewiring to IP, so it's a simple upgrade for an older analogue system.

Which 3MP camera should I pick?
  • Bullet: suits long outdoor views.
  • Turret or dome: discreet, wide coverage indoors and out.
  • Lens: fixed, or motorised varifocal so you can adjust the zoom.
  • Night vision: EXIR infrared (Hikvision's long-range infrared).

Why choose a 3MP CCTV camera?

A 3MP camera has around 50% more pixels than a 1080p (2MP) camera, so faces and vehicles stay clearer when you zoom into recorded footage. Check each product page for the lens, IR range and weather rating: the DS-2CE16F1T-IT3 bullet lists EXIR up to 40m and IP66, and the DS-2CE56F7T-IT3Z turret adds a 2.8–12mm motorised varifocal lens.

What you need to run them

  • A DVR that supports 3MP: see our DVRs and the Hikvision DVR buying guide, which explains the HQHI, HUHI and HTHI series.
  • Power: the models we have checked run on 12V DC, so add a CCTV power supply.
  • Cable: your existing coax with BNC connectors.

3MP camera FAQs

Is 3MP better than 1080p?

For detail, yes. For more detail still over coax, see our 5MP cameras.

Will a 3MP camera work with my existing DVR?

Only if the DVR supports 3MP input. An older 1080p-only recorder may not show the full 3MP picture. Check the DVR's specification, or send us the model number and we will check it.

Can I keep my old coax cable?

Usually, yes. Damaged or very long runs can cause interference, so test the cable before you swap the cameras.

Hikvision prices are trade-only and show once you sign in. Apply for a trade account, ask our Wolverhampton trade counter for a quote, or call us on 01902 902251. Order before 2:30pm for delivery within 1–2 working days to England, Scotland and Wales, or collect in store (please call first).
