How our alarm kit builder works
Ready-made alarm kits are a good start, but every home and business is different. The builder lets you start from a kit and add exactly what your building needs, all from the same system so everything pairs together.
Pick a system. Ajax or Hikvision AX PRO. Each kit stays within one system, because wireless detectors only pair with their own maker's control panel.
Start from an alarm kit, or skip it. A kit gives you the control panel and a starter set of devices in one box. Skip this step if you'd rather choose every part yourself.
Control panel. If you didn't pick a kit, choose the hub or control panel here. If your kit already has one, skip it.
Keypads, detectors, contacts and sirens. Add one motion detector for each room or hallway you want covered, a door contact for each outside door, and an outdoor siren.
Key fobs. Fobs to arm and disarm from your pocket.
Smoke, heat, CO and water leaks. Add smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms and flood detectors that report to the same app as your burglar alarm. Ajax WaterStop valves can shut the water off when a leak is found.

Should I buy an alarm kit or build my own?
A ready-made alarm kit is usually the simplest start: the control panel and a starter set of devices in one box. Most buildings need a few more detectors or contacts than a kit includes, so the builder lets you start from a kit and add the rest. If you already know exactly what you need, skip the kit and pick every part yourself.
Does a wireless alarm need wiring?
No cables are needed between the detectors and the control panel. The control panel needs mains power and an internet connection (Ethernet or Wi-Fi, depending on the model), and many panels also take a SIM card as a backup connection. Detectors, keypads and sirens run on batteries.
Questions about the alarm kit builder
Can I mix Ajax and Hikvision AX PRO in one alarm?
No. Wireless detectors only pair with their own maker's control panel, so each kit stays within one system.
Do I have to start with an alarm kit?
No. The alarm kit step is optional. Press Next without choosing a kit and pick your control panel and devices yourself.
My kit already has a control panel. Do I need another?
No. Skip the control panel step. You only need one control panel per alarm.
Why can't I see Hikvision AX PRO prices?
Hikvision is sold at trade prices. Register a trade account and, once logged in, you can build an AX PRO kit and see your prices in the basket. Everyone else can send us the kit list for a quote.
