This is the grey version of Hikvision's 4 MP G2H turret. Electronically it is identical to the white and black models: AcuSense human and vehicle classification, DarkFighter low-light performance, a built-in microphone and 30 m of infrared, in a compact all-metal IP67 housing at just 550 g. Only the finish differs.
AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting trigger only on real targets. Face capture is supported.
Grey is the finish most people never think to ask for, and it is often the right one. White disappears against render, painted soffits and pale stonework. Black disappears against dark fascias and exposed steel. Grey is the one that suits everything in between — galvanised steelwork, concrete, grey uPVC fascia, aluminium cladding, slate-grey composite panels, and the light industrial units and car parks where most of this hardware actually ends up.
It is also the least conspicuous choice on a mixed elevation. A white camera on grey cladding reads as an addition; a grey one reads as part of the building. Where the camera is meant to be seen as a deterrent, white remains the better pick.
This SKU is the 2.8 mm version on an M12 mount: horizontal FOV 100.2°, vertical 54.7°, diagonal 119.7°, with depth of field from 1.9 m. Hikvision's published DORI figures are detect 63 m, observe 25 m, recognise 12 m, identify 6 m. Treat the identify figure as the working constraint — for evidential facial detail the subject needs to be inside roughly 6 m. A 4 mm version narrows the view to 81.1° and pushes identification to about 7 m.
The infrared reaches 30 m against a 63 m detection range, so after dark the illuminator sets the working distance rather than the optics.
Maximum 9 W over 802.3af Class 3 — among the lowest draws in the G2H family. The strobe-and-siren models in the same range need 802.3at at 18 W, twice as much. On a recorder with a fixed total PoE budget shared across every port, that difference decides how many cameras the machine will actually run.
The -IU suffix means a built-in microphone — audio recorded alongside video with no extra hardware. There is no speaker, no strobe, and no alarm or audio terminal block. Ethernet port, microSD slot and reset key are its only physical interfaces.
Only the finish. Sensor, lens, analytics, ratings and power draw are identical.
Yes — the -IU has a built-in microphone. Check that recording audio is lawful and signposted for your site before enabling it.
Not on its own. There is no speaker and no alarm output. The IS2U/SL version in this range adds a strobe and an audible warning.
It supports ONVIF Profile S, T and G, so it will record on most ONVIF recorders. AcuSense classification is best supported on Hikvision recorders.
