Hikvision DS-2CD2347G3-LI2UY (4 mm) — 4 MP Smart Hybrid Light ColorVu turret

This is the 4 mm version of Hikvision's 4 MP ColorVu turret: a 1/1.8" sensor behind an F1.0 lens reaching 0.0001 lux, with Smart Hybrid Light — both white light and infrared — so the camera records in full colour at night rather than switching to monochrome. Arrayed dual microphones, 130 dB WDR, and a compact all-metal IP67 body.

4 mm or 2.8 mm — which to order

Same camera, different lens. At 4 mm the field of view is 95.2° horizontal and the DORI figures are detect 75 m, observe 30 m, recognise 15 m, identify 7 m. At 2.8 mm the view widens to 111.1° but the figures fall to 61 m detect and 6 m identify.

Choose 4 mm where the camera looks along a length — a driveway, a corridor, a car park aisle — and colour detail at distance matters. Choose 2.8 mm for breadth close in. The 4 mm holds focus from 3.1 m rather than 2.5 m, so it is the weaker option mounted close to its subject.

Colour at night, and the honest limit

Smart Hybrid Light gives three modes: infrared (covert, monochrome), white light (full colour, visibly lit, doubles as a deterrent), and Smart Hybrid — infrared until an event is detected, then white light and colour. That third mode is the reason to choose this over a plain IR camera: discreet by default, colour when it counts.

The limit to know: the supplement light reaches 30 m against a 75 m detection range at this lens. This is a compact turret and the illuminator is sized to the housing. For a genuinely long unlit view, the DS-2CD2T47G3 bullet carries 60 m.

Where this sits against the AcuSense turrets

Same size, same shape, and it is worth understanding what the extra money buys:

• Ten times the low-light sensitivity — 0.0001 lux against 0.001 on the 4 MP AcuSense turret
• A 1/1.8" sensor rather than 1/3" — a substantially larger sensor at the same resolution, so bigger pixels
• White light as well as infrared, for colour at night
• 130 dB WDR rather than 120
• EIS image stabilisation, which the fixed AcuSense models do not have

What you give up is reach: this identifies at 7 m against 7 m on the 4 MP AcuSense at the same lens — no better. ColorVu buys image quality in poor light, not distance.

What it has, and what it doesn't

Arrayed dual built-in microphones. No speaker, no strobe, and no alarm or audio terminal block — Ethernet, microSD and reset key are the only physical interfaces. For an on-camera siren and strobe, the LIS2UY/SL version adds both, at the cost of needing an 802.3at port.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 4 mm better than the 2.8 mm?

Not better, different. It sees further with more detail over a narrower field. The lens is fixed, so decide before ordering.

Does it really record in colour at night?

Yes, when the white light is active. In infrared mode it records in black and white. Smart Hybrid switches automatically on an event.

Is it worth it over the AcuSense turret?

If low light matters, yes — ten times the sensitivity and a much larger sensor. If you only need reach, no; the DORI figures are the same.

Does it have a siren?

No. This model has microphones only. The LIS2UY/SL version adds a strobe and audible warning.
