This is a fundamentally different camera from the AcuSense models in the G2H range, and the difference is what happens after dark. A 1/1.8" sensor behind an F1.0 lens reaching 0.0001 lux — ten times more sensitive than the 0.001 lux of the 4 MP AcuSense turrets — paired with Smart Hybrid Light: both infrared and white light, up to 60 m.

The practical result is that the camera stays in full colour at night rather than switching to black and white. When the question is what colour was the car, what was he wearing, that is the difference between a usable image and a shape.

How Hybrid Light actually works

You get three modes, and the choice matters more than most of the spec sheet:

• Infrared — covert, monochrome, no visible light. Behaves like a conventional camera.
• White light — full colour, and visibly lit, so it doubles as a deterrent.
• Smart Hybrid — runs on infrared until an event is detected, then switches the white light on and captures in colour. Discreet most of the time, colour when it counts.

That third mode is the reason to buy this camera over a plain IR model. It avoids the two usual complaints: a permanently lit camera annoying neighbours, or a monochrome clip that cannot identify anything.

Coverage and DORI

This SKU is the 2.8 mm version on an M16 mount: horizontal FOV 111.1°, vertical 57.6°, diagonal 138.5°, depth of field from 2.5 m. Hikvision's published DORI figures are detect 61 m, observe 24 m, recognise 12 m, identify 6 m. The 4 mm version narrows the view to 95.2° and pushes identification to about 7 m.

Worth noting the supplement light reaches 60 m against a 61 m detection range — one of the few cameras in this catalogue where the illuminator matches the optics. Most of the AcuSense range pairs 30 m of IR with optics reaching 89 m or more.

130 dB WDR and image stabilisation

Two specifications above the AcuSense models: 130 dB WDR rather than 120, and EIS electronic image stabilisation, which the fixed AcuSense cameras do not have. EIS matters on a long bullet mounted to a pole, a fence post or lightweight cladding, where wind movement otherwise blurs the frame.

It also has distortion correction and Defog on top of the usual BLC, HLC and 3D DNR.

What it does not have

No audio at all. No microphone, no speaker, no audio or alarm terminal block — Ethernet, microSD and reset key are the only interfaces. The LIY designation means light and imaging only. For audio or an on-camera siren, look at the LIS2UY/SL models in the same family.

Frequently asked questions

Does it really record in colour at night?

Yes, when the white light is active. In infrared mode it records in black and white like a conventional camera. Smart Hybrid mode switches automatically on an event.

How is this different from an AcuSense camera?

Ten times the low-light sensitivity, white light as well as infrared, 130 dB WDR instead of 120, and electronic image stabilisation. It also has no audio, where most AcuSense models have a microphone.

Will the white light annoy neighbours?

It can if left on permanently. Smart Hybrid mode exists precisely to avoid that — the light only comes on when something is detected.

Is there a black version?

Yes, the same camera is available with a black housing.
