Who is the IPC-T221H for?
Budget-conscious installs where you want a proper wired IP system rather than Wi-Fi cameras: a first CCTV system on a house, a small shop, or adding a couple of extra views to an existing HiLook or Hikvision NVR. The 2.8mm lens gives a wide view suited to porches, gardens and small yards. If you need to identify faces or plates at distance, look at the 5MP IPC-T250H; if you want colour images at night, the IPC-T229HAA-LU ColorVu 3.0 turret is the modern step up.
What you’ll need with it
- A PoE NVR (e.g. HiLook NVR-104H-D/4P) or a PoE switch plus recorder — the camera is powered and connected by one Cat5e/Cat6 cable.
- The free HiLookVision or Hik-Connect app for live view and playback on your phone.
- Optional 12V PSU and pre-made cables can be added from the options above.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with Hikvision NVRs?
Yes. HiLook is Hikvision’s own brand; the camera plugs straight into Hikvision and HiLook NVRs and also supports ONVIF for third-party recorders.
Is the night vision in colour?
No — this model uses infrared, so night footage is black and white. For 24/7 colour choose a ColorVu model.
Can it go outside?
Yes. IP67 rated, so it is suitable for permanent external wall or soffit mounting.
