This is the grey version of Hikvision's 6 MP G2H AcuSense turret. Electronically identical to the white and black models: a 1/2.4" sensor at 3200 × 1800 behind an F1.0 lens reaching 0.001 lux, 120 dB WDR, a built-in microphone and 30 m of infrared — on standard 802.3af PoE at just 8 W. Only the finish differs.

Why grey, and why it's worth asking for

Grey is the finish most people never think to specify, and it is often the right one. Against galvanised steel, aluminium cladding, concrete, render, or the grey uPVC soffits on most modern commercial units, a grey turret disappears in a way neither white nor black manages — white reads as a bright spot, black as a dark one.

It is also the least common variant in the range, so if the specification is about the hardware not being noticed, this is the one to reach for.

6 MP at F1.0 — the useful part of this camera

The combination is what makes it worth the step up from the 4 MP sibling. A 1/2.4" sensor behind an F1.0 aperture gives 0.001 lux in colour — the same low-light figure as the 4 MP model, but with 3200 × 1800 of detail rather than 2688 × 1520.

That is unusual. Normally more pixels on the same sensor size costs you sensitivity. Here the wider aperture holds the line, so the extra resolution is close to free in low light.

Coverage

This SKU is the 2.8 mm version: horizontal FOV 114.8°, vertical 60°, diagonal 143.5° — one of the widest fixed lenses in the catalogue. DORI figures are detect 64 m, observe 25 m, recognise 12 m, identify 6 m, with depth of field from 1.7 m.

A 4 mm version narrows the view to 94° and pushes identification to about 7 m. The infrared reaches 30 m.

What it has, and what it doesn't

A built-in microphone. No speaker, no strobe, and no alarm or audio terminal block — Ethernet, microSD and reset key are the only physical interfaces. For a strobe and audible warning, the IS2U/SL models in the same family add both, at the cost of an 802.3at port.

Is the grey version any different to the white or black one?

Only the finish. Sensor, lens, analytics, ratings and power draw are identical.

Is 6 MP worse in the dark than the 4 MP version?

No — both reach 0.001 lux, because this model pairs the higher resolution with the same F1.0 aperture. You gain detail without losing sensitivity.

Does it have a siren?

No — microphone only. The IS2U/SL models in this family add a strobe and audible warning.

Will it run on an 802.3af switch?

Yes — 8 W on Class 3.
